My Molton Brown shower gel smells like poo and worse.

Aibu to think Jasmin and Sun Rose shower gel from Molton Brown smell like faeces and urine. Sniffed straight from the bottle, not unpleasant but once foamed all over the body it becomes a whole different olfactory experience. I chucked a buff puff away thinking maybe DH had used it to clean his arse again but it is definitely the shower gel . Can’t even bring myself to sniff my fingers now.

This reminds me of the trees in Majorca that smell of spunk and blackcurrant lemsips that smell like cats piss.

I think it smells of wee, I actually wondered if mine was old stock or something. Really glad to see this thread.

Lilies also smell faecal to some people.

It's not covid. I've been staying with my parents for the last week and forgot my shower gel so went to use the one in the shower...Molton Brown's Jasmine and Sun Rose. The user who described it as "using a cubicle after a heavily perfumed woman has done a shit", has it spot on. Unfortunately it's the Jasmine, which now I've researched it, can often smell a bit like poo. I had no idea this was a thing until I googled "poo smell, Molton Brown" (avoiding putting the rather appropriate brand name first, for obvious reasons) and was immediately met with people talking about this exact fragrance. However I have an issue... i'd been thinking for the past few days about whether I should mention something to my mum about her shower gel, as I would personally want to know so I could throw it and use another one, however she's quite sensitive, and I was worried it would upset her.....but I also don't want her to smell like poo. Tricky.
I was about to tell her this evening but before I could say anything she said she likes the shower gel because "it reminds her of her gran". So it would no longer simply be a little heads up to maybe get a different shower gel but rather a quite unfortunate insult of her dead granny. So please please tell me what I should do??? She wouldn't want to smell like poo but she might hate me if I tell her. Help!

Nice to see this thread again . I don’t think the poo smell lingered after I showered . Your Mum is probably best left enjoying her memories of her Mum.
And don’t forget your shower gel next time . 😆
