To think its possible to sense you are pregnant even in unlikely circumstances

I'm tying myself up in knots waiting for a pregnancy test to arrive (thanks covid) despite only having had sex twice in the past month and using a condom (I have a three and 1 year old) I feel pregnant. Sore boobs, funny taste, feeling abit off, like period is coming got about five days. Exactly when I got bfps on the past. I haven't missed a period as they haven't returned yet due to breastfeeding... I'm crazy right.

Has anyone known they were pregnant despite the odds being against it?

No, I've had plenty of the opposite though. Feeling like I'm pregnant but not actually being. Especially after a couple of children, it's like PMS symptoms get a bit muddled.

Good luck with your test, hope it gives you the answer you're hoping for Smile.

I've been pregnant 4 times (2 babies) and always know. I've lived in this body for 40 years and am lucky to have clockwork cycles. Before my period, I felt implantation each time and the corresponding shift of hormones. With my 3rd pregnancy, I was on the pill AND using condoms and just knew with absolute sinking dread.

NoEndInSight1 · 12/01/2021 10:15

Gosh @ShowOfHands that's how I feel. Perhaps not dread but serious concern I think. My husband has said he's done, we had plans for the house this year, I haven't returned to work yet.. Oh and covid. Bloody hell. I haven't told DH as he will think I am nuts because we used condoms. Now I wonder if I'm just making the symptoms worse iyswim

Is there not some statistic that says condoms are 98% effective or something when used properly?

ie 2 out of every hundred women become pregnant using them properly.

Even the pill isn’t 100% effective. I think it’s roughly like one woman in a thousand will fall pregnant on that.

These stats are in my head from years ago so they may have changed...

NoEndInSight1 · 12/01/2021 10:29

Yes @Elieza I think that's right Confused

I knew instantly. I've felt implantation too, but the first telltale sign has always been painfully sore breasts.

(NB I've been pregnant 5x but only once to term).

dontgobaconmyheart · 12/01/2021 10:38

Condom's aren't and never have been 100% effective, neither is the pill, as has been pointed out. I can't see why he'd think your nuts as I'd have thought that would be common knowledge/the kind of thing he'd know if he were having sex as an adult. With 'perfect use' they are 98% effective. It's quite a bit less if they're not fitted properly/put on properly etc.

I think you can 'feel' any changes in your body, the same as you can feel a cold coming on. I've been convinced I might be pregnant before when it's just a worse PMS than usual, or different symptoms to usual, as it may well be with the first period after Bf.

Hope you get the result you want though OP and the test arrives asap. Waiting when you just want to know must be frustrating!

We had sex on the Saturday and by the Tuesday I knew that I was pregnant. My insides were not quiet and, when I lay on my back, my uterus was small but palpable.

NoEndInSight1 · 12/01/2021 12:28

Well, I tried an Internet cheapy and it was negative. I will try again tomorrow morning. I have absolutely no idea where I am in a cycle. I haven't had a period in a year and a half.

^this. The one time I actually WAS unexpectedly pregnant despite contraception, I didn't notice because becoming pregnant with an IUD in never occurred to me as a possibility. I even noticed a sudden jump in my resting heart rate and put it down to stress.

NoEndInSight1 · 12/01/2021 12:51

Ah perhaps I'm just a bundle of hormones 😂

I've known all three times. I can't explain it, I just felt different.

TheSoapyFrog · 12/01/2021 13:04

In my personal experience, yes. In my early twenties I was told I would be unable to conceive naturally. I never used contraception (I was pretty stupid back then) and did sleep around.
One day, in my early 30s, i had a niggling feeling in the back of my mind that I needed to buy a pregnancy test. I bought a pack of two and put them in a drawer for a few days. One night I decided to take a test and it was positive. I did the other one - also positive. I was pregnant with my twins.
I ended up being a single parent and was alone for 5 years when I met my partner. I'd had an ablation and was told that, even though my chances of getting pregnant were next to zero, it would be dangerous to get pregnant so need to take precautions. We used condoms.
On boxing day last year I was sick for no apparent reason. About a week before I had bought a pregnancy test just because of a thought at the back of my mind. I took the test the day after boxing day and I was indeed pregnant. Unfortunately I had to have a termination for medical reasons.

GeordieGreigsButtButtZoom · 12/01/2021 13:09

I never had any symptoms before a missed period. The times I thought I might have earlier signs, I wasn't pregnant...it was wishful thinking and over analysing every twinge and slight feeling of sickness. The times I was pregnant, no signs at all until the missed period.

I'm told by a gynaecologist that most of the classic signs won't be apparent until the hormone levels are high enough, which won't be until after the missed period.

Obviously YMMV. Bodies can be funny things.

NoEndInSight1 · 12/01/2021 13:30

Thanks everyone. I definitely knew with my first two. I was absolutely certain I was pregnant. I guess maybe this time I'm suffering from 'last baby syndrome' and it's just wishful thinking. Hey ho. I will test in the morning but assume otherwise I'm crackers

I've only been pregnant once. I had stupidly had a fair amount of unprotected sex in the years previous, however on this "encounter" the following day I knew something didn't feel right. Then the aching boobs and nausea began and I knew 100%.

Of course I took a test after my next missed period to confirm but I just knew.

GoldenBlue · 12/01/2021 13:39

Always knew very quickly, well before a test was showing positive. Only 1 occasion where I've had similar feelings and never got to a positive, other occasions resulted in a positive confirmed pregnancy. Sore boobs, taste, smell, bleeding gums, mild period pain type aches but slightly different.
