Just that really!
Wish you had them together closer/further apart?

Talk to me about sibling age gaps to help me decide on whether to TTC or not soon!

20 months.

Main pros were the overlap of nappy changing and so on, keeping the overall period shorter, and - now - that they play together nicely.

The main con at the moment is that the older one leads the younger one on so they both behave badly at the same time.

3.4 gap here between DS1 and DS2. Though DS2 is only 8 weeks old so cant really comment much yet! I wanted a 2 year gap but wasnt meant to be.

So far I like that DS1 is fairly independent, can play on his own, can feed himself and is potty trained (just!).

I do worry if they will play together with this gap but reading this thread it seems they will which is good. Due to bdays there will 4 school years which isn't ideal, they wont be at the same school ever really (I think one year in secondary).

7 years between my DDs. Eldest is nearly 9 youngest nearly 2. So far so good.

2 minutes Grin
It was very hard work for the first six months but they are 6 now and it's absolutely brilliant! I would say a smaller age gap will be harder work initially but you will reap the rewards as they get older. Everything is so much easier, like days out, play dates, after school activities etc.

There will be 5.5 years between DD1 and DC2 when he/she arrives; it's a slightly longer gap than I would have liked but things didn't work out the way I'd hoped. However, there will be some pros:

  • not having to pay two sets of nursery fees at the same time
  • I'm in a stable job and financially recovered from the impact of the first time
  • DD will be in school (covid permitting) which means more one to one time with the new baby
  • exams won't overlap
  • only having one child to support through university at a time
  • the age difference isn't really that significant once they're adults

2.5 years between my two. They’re only 4 and 2 but seems like a good age gap so far.
