Hi all

In my desperation I have dyed my bleached highlighted hair at home. I use a olia Permanent bleach (blue box) the product itself has left
My hair Feeling great however it's a bit yellowish at the roots. I have used a toner and it's not much better.

I am now tempted to use a lightest ash blonde Olia dye to tone it down. Advise please I cannot leave it this colour.

And yes I know I was unreasonable to try do it myself 🙈

Not a hairdresser, but Violet shampoo and/or conditioner tones down the brassiness.
When I was growing out my colour (now mostly white) I used it often, and now just every few months to keep the white bright.

Superdrug have got a violet blonde shampoo half price at £2.47
tresemme

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 10/01/2021 21:39

sometimes its called Silver shampoo (or conditioner) - depends on the brand.

PinkiOcelot · 10/01/2021 21:41

Agree with PP, the shampoo and conditioner for blond hair is good. It’s purple and dyes your hands but does the job on your hair. I had to use it after a bad experience at the hairdressers.

Mammaaof · 10/01/2021 21:47

Osmo is the best ever purple shampoo can get off Amazon, all hairdressers recommend it x

ZiggZagg · 10/01/2021 21:48

Can you post a picture please and I'll advise?

Biancadelrioisback · 10/01/2021 21:49

Leave the toner on the problem areas longer. How long did you leave the toner on for?

Fallsballs · 10/01/2021 21:50

Bleach London do a white toner which is good on brassiness - depends the level of yellow so pic needed.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 10/01/2021 21:55

OSMO Silverising Violet Mask is the one I use
they have a wide range of Violet products, I don't think I've seen it in shops, I get it from Amazon

tonyunclejohnny · 10/01/2021 21:55

Ok here come the pictures 🙈

I think it's beyond purple/silver shampoo and conditioner. I do have that in as standard as I was blonde before. Happy to re try though!

You probably have to bleach it again.

shouldistop · 10/01/2021 21:57

You've not done a bad job though

shouldistop · 10/01/2021 21:58

Get some olaplex

BlueThistles · 10/01/2021 21:58

its a nice warm colour to be fair.. obvs not what you wanted to achieve though 🌺

CrocodilesCry · 10/01/2021 21:58

It needs to be lifted more, purple shampoo isn't going to make it lighter sorry :(
I'd bleach the roots personally with a good bleach and 10 volume developer and see if that makes it light enough.

ZiggZagg · 10/01/2021 22:01

Yes, you need to lighten it more, bleach and 3% peroxide. Once it's lifted a few more shades you can then put a light ash blonde toner on it. Just bleach your roots though or you will really damage the ends. Oh and next time, wait for your hairdresser to open Wink

Any recommendations and where to purchase. Now I'm worried my hairs going to snap off. It was in pretty good condition though.

Schwartzkopf Blondme is great - pricey but the best. You can get it from Sally's and possibly Amazon. Also Indola in the blue tub

ZiggZagg · 10/01/2021 22:16

Yes it looks like you could use that again Grin

Londontown12 · 10/01/2021 22:17

Hairdresser here !!
If you can find a toner anything with a v like 9nv buy it and pop it in v is violet in toner that counsels yellow I do know that fanola no yellow shampoo is amazing and if u can’t find a toner use that xxx

Funneth · 10/01/2021 22:18

It looks really healthy and I like the colour but I don't mind slight brassiness in blonde that's just me. What you can do is bleach again but not for the full time to limit damage, bleach works faster on the roots because of heat from the scalp which is why you're supposed to bleach roots later than the rest.

Purple shampoo isn't going to work here, the hair hasn't been lifted enough. Neither will toner looking at the photos.
Londontown12 · 11/01/2021 07:17

@CrocodilesCry
Actually her hair is pretty light ! It doesn’t have to be the palest to use a toner that’s why I suggested A level 9 it’s best to do this than applying more bleach she’s only going to get herself in more of a muddle best to just make it look reasonable til she can get to a hairdresser plus we haven’t seen it in RL so telling someone to bleach again is just not a something anyone should be suggesting x

NoProbLlamaa · 11/01/2021 09:54

I have had hair loft to a similar shade - I don’t think you need to re bleach unless you want to be bleach blonde, a long sesh with a decent blue shampoo does wonders. I would recommend Fanola no yellow, L’Oréal professional or fudge. Leave on for a few hours and deep condition afterwards.
