How much of a tomboy are you?

I like football and riding bikes so a bit.

I'm neither a tomboy nor especially feminine - just average .

What's a tomboy?

I just like knitting and kittens, so not so much.

I only wear pink, sit of fluffy things and always defer to men.

Why does watching football and riding bikes mean you're a tomboy? Aren't you just a woman who likes doing those things?

It’s a shame you feel the need to class some activities as the things only men do.

I can't ride a bike or play football because of a disability, does that mean I'm not allowed to be a tomboy?

(I also suspect I'm considerably butcher than you are)

I'm not a big fan of the tomboy thing, probably because it uses to get said about me a lot when I was younger.
It just seems to be a way of saying

'well the people with this box do these things, and the people with this box can do these things.....
what's that Hazey? You like to do something from the other box?!...well we'll make another box for people like you....'

I used to play football, climb. I do a mathematical science and loads of coding in my day job.

I also do needlework and dress design, bake.

I'm a dab hand at woodwork and back before engine management systems and car engines as sealed units, could do basic car maintenance sufficient to keep my old banger on the road.

But also interested in interior design.

Read Tom Clancy, Lee Childs and Georgette Heyer.

These are just things that I'm interested in.

I have chin whiskers and middle age spread.

Always got called ‘tomboy’ growing up and hated it. I’m not very feminine, I don’t wear make up, high heals or dresses/skirts. I can often be found doing DIY or fixing my car, my hobbies are probably not considered as feminine and most of my friends are men. But I’m not a Tom boy or gender fluid, I’m just me 🙂.

Not really, but I do enjoy "non-girly" things like snowboarding, fixing my car and climbing. But I do get made up when doing both of these activities 😂

I wear jeans and like stereotypical male pursuits BUT when the queen bee (who j used to hate because she wears skirts and makeup and drives a pink car, bleurgh) gives me a makeover then I look absolutely stunning in a crop top and mini skirt with sparkly makeup.

I thought tomboy was only applied to children*. Once you're an adult you can't be a tomboy, you can be butch. But not all tomboys grow up to be butch.

In normal times I play rugby and netball. So a cross between a tomboy and a girly girl, a tomgirl.

*Disclaimer: this is my understanding of how the world appears to work. If I was in charge it would work in a different way.

I think there's a gender identity label you can assign yourself for being a football-enjoying-bike-riding-vagina-owner

I hate this pigeonholing. I don't wear make up. I love clothes and colours and fashion but not fancy brands. I hate sportswear. I like folk music. I keep my hair short. I like yarn based crafts. I wear flat shoes. I cycle for miles. I am entirely a woman. Try not to split the world up so much, live a little!

Is bike riding gendered? I didn't know that! Another tick in the tomboy column. But I wear a helmet so just a little tick. Also I don't go all day, just a little pootle!

*I drink beer. I love to chat with a close friend.

I mean none of them are gendered. That was kind of my point. Spectacular home goal there. Oh I hate football and love contact sports.

Isn't a tomboy an old school word for transgender?
