As a child I was ridiculously jealous of my 3 little brothers for being boys! Not the usual sibling jealousy but because they got to wear trousers all the time, even for weddings when I got made to wear a frilly dress. They got the type of trainers I wanted when I was stuck with girly ones. But most of all because they had a willy and got to wee standing up! 😂

I used to put a chapstick in my knickers and say it was my willy, to somehow try and compensate!!

My parents (and brothers) love to remind me about this!

I remember a friend making us stare at the sun when we were in primary so we'd need glasses Confused we also made tin foil braces Blush

avocadoinasidecar · 09/01/2021 23:43

When my mum died an acquaintance's mum died a month later. She never knew I was jealous that she'd had an extra month with her mum. Irrational and selfish Angry

I went to a military school, some of the kids were from bases quite far away and boarded during the week, I was really jealous of them

Knittedfairies · 09/01/2021 23:50

I never mastered handstands or cartwheels; some girls in my class used to spend whole playtimes upside down.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 09/01/2021 23:51

Not me but dd came home from school when she was in reception upset because she wanted a stepdad - her friend has got one and she wanted one! Her poor dad is very present and lives under the same roof!!

Naps

I have always been jealous of people that can nap during the day. Unless I am sick I can't.

My husband can nap any time any where. It makes me jealous.

I was jealous of my friend called Eloise, such a spophisticated name. When she was about 8 or 9 she moved to Hull, I wanted to move there too. She told me it was near Monaco. Took me a while to realised where Hull was...

Stillfunny · 09/01/2021 23:56

I was jealous of the Brady Bunch .I wanted a big family with brothers and a cool Anerican Mom and Dad.

Mmmmdanone · 10/01/2021 00:01

Long thin wavy hair. I have the most awful thick frizzy hair and I used to be so jealous of girls with thin long slightly wavy hair. I thought my life would be perfect if I had that hair -still do-

MrsDiplo · 10/01/2021 00:10

anyone who had a middle name and a SAHM. i used to tell people my middle name was Elizabeth (actually my sisters middle name but i dont have one). Also the SAHMs who did pickups and drop offs. My DM never came to school events as she worked a lot. I hated nativities or any event where classmates would be giving cheeky waves to their parents in the crowd as i knew mine werent there.

Al la carte kitchen, cabbage patch doll, Sindy house, Teddy Ruxpin, Care Bears and Mr frosty.

Notjustanymum · 10/01/2021 00:18

I had a name that had a different number of syllables than all three of my siblings. Mine had fewer. I’ve never got over it!

MrsDiplo · 10/01/2021 00:25

Oh and I had a friend who had a SINK in her bedroom!!! A sink!!!

i had a friend with a sink her in her room when I was around 8. She proudly showed me and 2 other friends her prized sink, before climbing up on it, pulling her knickers down and showing us how she pissed in it at night and it meant she didnt have to go downstairs to the bathroom Confused

A work colleague's wedding dress. He left her for another woman before their first anniversary. I had been happily married for 25 years.

As a teenager I became transfixed with dimples at the bottom of people’s backs and felt jealous of my friend’s twin sister because she had quite prominent ones. I’ve never had them and I remember frantically googling how to get them. Turns out it’s mostly genetic.

Lizadork · 10/01/2021 13:12

I was jealous of the 13 years on talk shows that had become young mothers, I really wanted a baby!

I got to 16 Blush Not as fun as I thought.

millievanille · 10/01/2021 18:04

I also always wanted an older brother. I was so jealous of my best friend who had two. I used to have dreams I had a big brother and used to feel sad when I woke up and remembered I didn't

Phineyj · 10/01/2021 18:29

I was highly jealous of my younger sister's rainbow sparkle wellies. I was already in adult sizes and they only made them in black. I now own a lurid pair of my own in a 42 and DD has had a fabulous range in her 8 years including some that lit up when she jumped on them.

ReallySpicyCurry · 10/01/2021 18:34

People who had stairs in their houses. It seemed to add an exciting new dimension to family living. I didn't live in a house with stairs until I was 21

GandalfTheNoble · 10/01/2021 18:38

People who were left handed ! To the point that u taught myself to be left handed and still am !

WantChewbaccaForGood · 10/01/2021 18:44

I was jealous of people with stairs too, @reallyspicycurry! I used to illustrate my primary school "what I did at the weekend" notebooks with pictures of stick-person-me walking up or down the stairs.

I also really really wanted fancy curtain tie backs (these also made it into school notebooks).

I have both now, they aren't all that Wink.

Avocado1102 · 10/01/2021 18:46

Bloody jealous of my good friend (SAHM) with her only child at school now, because her husband is a critical worker this time!

OliviaKeeling · 10/01/2021 18:50

People who had their own bedroom despite having siblings! I shared a room with my sisters until I was 13 when my parents got an extension so my 18yo sister had her own bedroom, bathroom (and own front door! which she never used... 😡)

I was little Miss Green-Eyed Monster! Grin

Anyone who had cool stationery or pens and were allowed to take them to school Shock definitely had a few jealous looks from me.
