As a child I was ridiculously jealous of my 3 little brothers for being boys! Not the usual sibling jealousy but because they got to wear trousers all the time, even for weddings when I got made to wear a frilly dress. They got the type of trainers I wanted when I was stuck with girly ones. But most of all because they had a willy and got to wee standing up! 😂

I used to put a chapstick in my knickers and say it was my willy, to somehow try and compensate!!

My parents (and brothers) love to remind me about this!

Always been jealous of people with flat tummies! Never been overweight, always been fit and lean, except my abdomen. No amount of crunching or planking has ever touched my 'pouch'. Thanks to lockdown I expect never to see a flat tummy again, so some unexpected perks I guess!

wishihadagoodone · 09/01/2021 21:44

I've just remembered being really jealous of my friends who had brothers or sisters that looked like them🤣🤣
I have an older sister (who's actually my half sister) but she looks like her dad.
I look like my dad and my younger sister looks like my mum. We used to joke we're all adopted. But I used to be dead jealous of my friends who had younger brothers/sisters in our school who all looked like each other🤣🤣

As a kid I was jealous of other people who could get their thumb to touch their wrist, always wanted to be super flexible. I was jealous of the gymnasts because although i would have been good at it, my mum could not afford to take me to lessons.

In secondary school I was envious of one of the girl's shoes, kickers, STILL keep my eyes peeled for them now and if they are ever made again, I'd be first in line. I know there are kickers on sale atm but I'm talking about a particular pair.
I was jealous of people who had clean and smart homes, girls who all the boys fancied, and people who 'got' maths. I was so frustrated with maths, never seemed to click and I just used to get anxious in class.

As a young girl I was jealous of one particular friend, not her as such though. When she invited me round for the first time she showed me her en suite!! I couldn't believe it, I didnt know they existed, and it was like a luxury spa, so many products.

A lot of those things dont bother me now, other than wanting the kickers and regretting not being able to do gymnastics.

As an adult I am envious of people who are good with money. I think being shit at maths doesnt help.

My friend was brought up on a dairy farm and got to herd the cows in bareback in her pyjamas on any of her 5 ponies twice a day.
I’m still not over it.

Growing up : friends whose parents had kitchen roll

Now : the imagined peek into other people's lives just from walking past their houses and seeing which lights are on. Wondering who in those families is using those rooms and what are doing. In my head they are always doing far more worthy and sophisticated things than my household. Things like playing the piano or reading classic novels. According to my imagination that's what everyone else in my street does in their spare time Grin

WayTooSoon · 09/01/2021 22:43

Anyone who had that big yellow teapot toy that opened up and had rooms inside.

Fairyscary · 09/01/2021 22:44

Fairyscary · 09/01/2021 22:45

I was also jealous of people who had
kickers!

Penistoe · 09/01/2021 22:47

I used to put a chapstick in my knickers and say it was my willy, to somehow try and compensate!!

You mean to tell me you child abusing parents didn’t put you on hormone blockers straight away when you were clearly telling them you wanted to be a boy. The horror.

felicitywishdoll · 09/01/2021 22:47

At primary school was always jealous when someone broke their arm or leg and got a sling or crutches for a few weeks

Holothane · 09/01/2021 22:57

Being 16 and do jealous a friend got all the 007 novels for Christmas I thought I’d done well in getting 4, my family weren’t pleased though, all I wanted at that age.

AliceMcK · 09/01/2021 22:58

Me too!
AliceMcK · 09/01/2021 23:01

All of your post OP plus my DBs didn’t have boobs or periods. They also got the good presents, games, snooker table, video games, while I got shitty dolls and crap girly things.

Ginsmything · 09/01/2021 23:02

My friend who was a couple of years younger had to have a filling and I was jealous thinking it was somehow grown up as I didn’t have any.

Changemaname1 · 09/01/2021 23:02

Bearnecessity · 09/01/2021 23:11

Fairy scary....I used to love leap frog...until I broke three fingers doing it...

I am jealous of anyone with slim, shapely calves as I have large, shapely calves that have been the bain of my life, I would love to have nice legs.

CommanderBurnham · 09/01/2021 23:14

My horrid SIL who isn't working, not in any risk group has an appointment for vaccine tomorrow and I'm a frontline healthcare worker in the highest risk profession and I've not had one.

Seriously pissed off on so many levels.

peanutbutterbiscuits · 09/01/2021 23:14

People out running. I am so jealous. I actually feel a stab of anger about it. Especially (and this is awful and I'm quite ashamed) if they are really out of shape and look like they'd rather be doing anything but running. I've run all my life, a 15 miler was something I used to do before breakfast, but a bone issue means I will never run again. I actually lost my shit with DH today as he went out for a 10km run, and wouldn't stop going on about how great he felt afterwards. I honesty wanted to punch him.

Blush
CommanderBurnham · 09/01/2021 23:17

Sorry that's actually not ridiculous!

I'm jealous of people with gas cookers. Like if someone buys a house with one I just get my cat bum face on when I go round. Just can't get over it.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 09/01/2021 23:27

I was also jealous of people who wore glasses as a child. I was prescribed glasses at 13 and never wore them as I hated them. I still don’t now. My ears aren’t level and they never sit right.

I was jealous of anyone that had a Disney video. I begged my parents for a Disney film on video (back in the day when Aladdin, little mermaid etc were big). They finally relented for my 8th birthday and bought me ... Fantasia. I could have wept.

chillidoritto · 09/01/2021 23:37

I also used to be jealous of kids who had asthma and had their own inhalers and special treatment!

Ditto with kids who had diabetes!

Don't get me started on people on crutches!

OP posts:
MinnieJackson · 09/01/2021 23:39

@Wowcherarestalkingme oh no!
