As a child I was ridiculously jealous of my 3 little brothers for being boys! Not the usual sibling jealousy but because they got to wear trousers all the time, even for weddings when I got made to wear a frilly dress. They got the type of trainers I wanted when I was stuck with girly ones. But most of all because they had a willy and got to wee standing up! 😂

I used to put a chapstick in my knickers and say it was my willy, to somehow try and compensate!!

My parents (and brothers) love to remind me about this!

When all the kids in primary would get a carton of milk with a straw in the afternoon, I was so jealous. But I hated milk. I used to say yes sometimes when the jealousy became to much & just take little sips whilst simultaneously gagging.

NoProblem123 · 09/01/2021 20:13

Best friend had a My Little Pony Grooming Parlour with LOTS of extra tack and she didn’t even like horses as much as me.
Fuming.

NoProblem123 · 09/01/2021 20:14

AND same friend went home on Friday saying she was spending the weekend wallpaper her dolls house FFS Angry

Sosigsandwich · 09/01/2021 20:15

@Chillidoritto That's made my day!! Chapstick 🤣

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 09/01/2021 20:18

Other people's roast dinners. I'm actually pretty good at them myself (not a stealth boast, promise) but for some reason every time I read about someone having a roast dinner on here, I imagine it to be utterly glorious AND magically calorie-free.

cantthinkofanythingwitty · 09/01/2021 20:18

I was jealous of the Jehovah's Witness kids at school.

They used ro leave assembly when we did prayers and I was convinced they were off to play games

nildesparandum · 09/01/2021 20:20

I always wanted a Silver Cross doll's pram. My mother told me they are too expensive so I had to make do with a cheaper one. When my grandaughters were young children I bought one for them, none of them played with it so I did.
I also wanted long hair as a child but I was told long haired girls get head lice easy, so when I grew up a grew my hair long.
I was also jealous of girls who had their own bedroom as coming from a large family I always had to share with my sisters. When I left school and started training as a nurse I got my own bedroom in the nurses home, I was over the moon.

NoProblem123 · 09/01/2021 20:21

JesusInTheCabbageVan - I feel the same about other people’s roast dinners, especially if they follow a long, bracing walk - I do it all the time but so jealous about other peoples Confused

chaosisaladder · 09/01/2021 20:22

Isn’t it funny, things that made you “other” in primary were the most sought after, but as a teenager most of us did anything to fit in

I was really fucking jealous of Kate Middleton when she got engaged to William. I don’t, nor have I ever, fancied William. It was bizarre Blush

hansgrueber · 09/01/2021 20:22

@itchyfinger

I was jealous of the kids in school who had asthma, they used to get "special" treatment and go to the nurses room every day for their inhaler Blush
My late mother used to tell the tale about my brother who came home from school, clearly been fighting. When he was interrogated he admitted he'd been figthting the other boys, they laughed at him because they all had letters from the nit nurse and he didn't!
Dizzy1234 · 09/01/2021 20:23

I wanted an Evel Kneivel doll with his stunt bike, I'm female so wasn't allowed one, my cousin (m) got one for Xmas, soooo jealous

I have always been jealous of people who can cross their legs properly when they're sat down. I have fat thighs.

Faith50 · 09/01/2021 20:26

Thinking about it, I had a lot of secret jealousy as a child.

  1. Friends whose fathers were around - it ate away at me
  2. My friend's soda system
  3. Peers at secondary school who were good at art
  4. Peers who wore Kickers
HeadIsFucked · 09/01/2021 20:27

This is quite outing however, in infant schol I got jealous as a friend lost their tooth at school. So jealous that I took the tooth from her drawer, pretended to my parents mine had came out but said it hurt too much to show them the hole Blush They knew, of course. I had to take it back in, to the distraught friend who thought she had lost her tooth (but had luckily still been given tooth fairy money that night) and tell the teacher I...stole someone elses bloody tooth. My friend forgave me. I still feel the shame now. Must have been maybe 5 or 6...

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 09/01/2021 20:27

Anyone who had the sindy doll house with the lift and the horse.
My friend had one and hardly wanted to play with it and I was so jealous.
And anyone who was at boarding school like an enid blyton novel

TradedAtlanta · 09/01/2021 20:28

I was insanely jealous of my neighbour's dimples as a little girl. So much so I tried to inflict some on my face with a daily regime featuring the rubber on the end of my pencil.

hansgrueber · 09/01/2021 20:30

When daughter 1 was about 4 I caught her kneeling up on the kitchen chair banging her head on the bit of the back that sticks up! She apparently was jealous because her best friend had had a couple of stitches in a cut on her forehead and she wanted them too.

pjmask · 09/01/2021 20:30

There was a reversible puffy jumper at Tammy girl with snoopy dogs on it, the big puffy sleeves rolled up and you could see the other side. I asked mum and she said she wished she could get it but it was too expensive. Several girls in my class had it (no uniform in those days) and I was absolutely green with envy Envy

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 09/01/2021 20:31

Oh and still jealous of anyone who can raise one eyebrow

Yes! That's the other thing, you all have better walks than me. Our walks are just an hour long game of 'Was that mud or dogshit?'
Faith50 · 09/01/2021 20:33

Chaos I too was jealous of Kate, so much so I almost did not watch the wedding. I do not find her overly attractive and am/was not attracted to Prince William. It was more to do with the lifestyle she would now have and the ridiculous attention she received on the day by adoring fans. It made me begrudge my very ordinary and unprivileged life.

carlaCox · 09/01/2021 20:34

As an adult I am extremely jealous of young people who didn't grow up in the nineties and have lovely, luscious, natural eyebrows. I got picked on relentlessly for my bushy eyebrows as a teenager and plucked them to death. I've been trying to grow them back for 8 years now, I think I have to finally admit defeat.

MrsGrindah · 09/01/2021 20:34

I can’t believe I’m telling the world this but I had short hair when I was a kid. My hair was very curly and thick and Mum couldn’t tame it so she had it cut short. I couldn’t blame her but I wanted to be like the blonde long haired girls. So, on evenings and weekends I would sometimes drape a tape measure over my head, sellotaped on. I would flick the ends about dramatically , showing of my “ long hair”.

Chattercino · 09/01/2021 20:35

@paddyclamp2
I hear you! Always wanted a Mr Frosty and a soda stream.
Oh and one Xmas my parents got us a Sony Master System and we really really wanted a Mega Drive! Gutting.
