Sink is filled up with fresh water ready to do a round of washing up.
Someone comes along and drains pasta cooking water into the sink.

Please note this is lighthearted only!

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/01/2021 17:16

I do it all the time and have to start over again lol

MsChatterbox · 09/01/2021 17:17

Very annoying. Another one - doing the dishes and leaving the bowl full of dirty dish water and food remnants in the sink 🤢

justsayso · 09/01/2021 17:43

LTB

justsayso · 09/01/2021 17:44

No one wants starchy pasta residue on their glasses!

insancerre · 09/01/2021 17:45

Annoying
But you shouldn’t have filled the sink with water until the pasta had been drained
Rookie timing mistake

Doingtheboxerbeat · 09/01/2021 18:10

Or buy a washing up bowl Shock. I know it's radical as hell, but mine matches my kitchen and I wash/ wipe it down after use.

june2007 · 09/01/2021 18:11

Washing up bowl.

TroysMammy · 09/01/2021 18:15

What's worse is a bowl of washing up water left to go cold and people (I'm looking at you colleagues)
just dump their empty mug in it. Then someone, usually me has to fish out the mugs from the icky cold water to fill the bowl with hot soapy water to wash them. Now that is also disgusting.

HaveeeeYouMetTed · 09/01/2021 18:29

Not unhygienic but definitely annoying. Nobody wants to wash up in a bowl of starch Grin

The number of times I have told my family this, but do they listen? I cannot stand having to fish dirty dishes and cutlery out of cold, slimy dishwater with unidentified lumps of god knows what floating in it. Yuk.
Slub · 09/01/2021 19:53

Buy a dishwasher.
There.
Sorted that problem for you.

3JsMa · 09/01/2021 20:13

I can't see the problem, everything is rinsed anywayConfused

CrazyOldBagLady · 09/01/2021 20:15

Yeah it's a bit minging. Those tiny little side sinks are good for this sort of predicament though.

banivani · 09/01/2021 20:29

Single sinks are annoying and impractical. Double sinks should be standard in kitchens. [gavel]

Lemmeout · 09/01/2021 20:35

We have two sinks but this still happens so fecking annoying . Yanbu

Felifox · 09/01/2021 20:42

I use a washing up bowl so I don't chip gĺass or china. I only put saucepans in the sink to wash.

NoOneOwnsTheRainbow · 09/01/2021 20:53

@insancerre Oooh very good point. I voted YANBU but you've swayed me haha.

OP, did you leave the dishes to "soak"? If so, YABU I'm afraid and should have washed up sooner. If not, YABU because why are you washing up when you should be eating the pasta? Grin

PopsicleHustler · 09/01/2021 20:57

This is why we wash up under a running tap. Clean and better way to do it.

FangsForTheMemory · 09/01/2021 20:58

Doesn't matter if you rinse the washing up in clean water afterwards.

Jimbellselmbath · 09/01/2021 20:59

Get a dishwasher. You'll never look back

Viviennemary · 09/01/2021 21:02

Put your soapy water into their pasta next time. But if its yours too then better not.

SnapeSnapeSeverusSnape · 09/01/2021 21:35

Was there anywhere else to drain the pasta water into?

Doingtheboxerbeat · 09/01/2021 21:36

Dishwasher aren't practical if you live alone , because I would need to use all of my dishes to fill it up . Not very cost effective in that case, plus I don't have room in my kitchen.

partyatthepalace · 09/01/2021 21:44

Were you literally about to wash up?!

Because my pet peeve is people who leave water in the sink and then people drop washing up in there and it gets like a stagnant canal. Grin

Oh no! I got a table top for my flat 3 years ago. I love it. Wish I had room for a half size one. I adore it. Like having a maid.
