Curiosity really as I've just read the list of critical workers and other than entertainment industry and non essential retail I can't think of any other jobs that aren't on the list at all.

So if you're still working but don't class as a critical worker what do you do?
I'm a social worker so am, my Dp is with construction industry so doesn't although some of the jobs they've done do as the building when finished will be used in a critical role.

My husband is an ecologist. He has to keep working but I'm sure he isn't a key worker.

I work for the Courts and Tribunal Service - which I think does count as key worker - but I've not tried getting a school place or anything.

LaceyBetty · 09/01/2021 13:29

And I do corporate law, not critical.

MedSchoolRat · 09/01/2021 13:29

University research scientist (not lecturer). Most my work (infectious disease epidemiology) can be done at home as long as I have reliable vpn & ethernet. The people allowed into my workplace office are using (maintaining) extremely expensive/specialist equipment/materials or looking after lab animals. Teaching, admin, finance, HR, project managers, secretarial, IT (etc) staff including network maintenance all seem to work at home.

PicardsFlute · 09/01/2021 13:30

Professional artist. Decidedly non-critical.

Heriditaments · 09/01/2021 13:31

Professionals services to companies.

SimonJT · 09/01/2021 13:32

We’re both actuaries, we were counted as key workers last time, I have no idea if we are this time, we definitely aren’t critical workers.

Uni admin. The school and my manager insist I’m critical, look, I’m just not. Have kept DC home to my manager’s chagrin

Nancylovesthecock · 09/01/2021 13:36

I work as a call agent for a utilities company.

leiaskye · 09/01/2021 13:44

WFH as a Project manager for a bank.

Although banking is a key worker category, we have been told we are not key workers as the bank could continue (for a period of time) without us.

HelloMissus · 09/01/2021 16:58

I’m a film and TV producer.
Not a critical worker - though I question how many would have got through the last year without us Grin

AndcalloffChristmas · 09/01/2021 17:11

I am a prosecutor in the civil service. I don’t class myself as a critical worker but I guess I could argue myself into “those essential for the running of the justice system”. Won’t though. And exh isn’t a critical worker , although also a lawyer.

Affor · 09/01/2021 17:11

I'm in education policy. Not essential and fully wfh since last March

I work in a museum. We are actually still going in to work as collections work can’t be done from home.

Housing101 · 09/01/2021 17:42

I work with the homeless, those threatened with homelessness and people in emergency and temporary accommodation.

A lot of our work can be done over the phone but not all of it. And it is VERY busy a the moment.

Housing101 · 09/01/2021 17:43

For local authority.

eurochick · 09/01/2021 17:43

Lawyer. If we had had this level of lockdown in December I probably would have argued that I was critical to the administration of justice as I had a seven day hearing on a case worth hundreds of millions of dollars and was one of the advocates. However, in January and February I have no hearings scheduled, just lots of deadlines so I am juggling.

Iheartsheep · 09/01/2021 17:51

Dh works in manufacturing but not food so is not a critical worker but must go to work as be can't do it from home.
