Mother of the Groom outfits

Hi my son is getting married in July and I'm looking for a dress to wear. Can anyone recommend websites which are not frumpy?! I'm 50, a petite size 12 and would ideally want an elegant midi dress - nothing elaborate or flouncy. I consider myself a young 50 so most outfits just don't suit what I'm looking for.

Sorry, realised I've posted in the wrong thread!

Coast
Phase 8- think both mums got their outfit there at my wedding

Roman Originals?

I'm 45 and love their stuff. People are always surprised to find out where I get stuff from.

I'd post on the Style and Beauty board, with an idea of your budget too. You'll get brilliant advice there.

Toast often have lovely dresses that are well cut/not frilly or fussy.

My mum got a lovely dress for JD William's for my wedding this year

John Lewis do a fab personal shopper service (not just now obvs)
They found me a fab outfit recently for my Mums wedding ( I am in my 50s like you) They asked what style I wanted and went and got a lovely range of stuff that I would have never found or even thought to try on myself, hats, shoes bags and jewellery . i was there for a whole morning, I can't recommend it highly enough

Maybe look at Whistles, Jigsaw, LK Bennett?

Nanny0gg · 08/01/2021 13:58

I agree Whistles are good for this kind of thing.

Damsel in a dress

Ellmau · 09/01/2021 17:46

Hobbs have some lovely dresses.

SpiderGwen · 09/01/2021 17:54

Just avoid that most Mother Of The Groom colour - lilac.
My mum and her friends called it Menopausal Mauve.

BackforGood · 09/01/2021 18:29

I like the one JanewaysBun linked to, although it's somewhat expensive for what it is.

Ooh, and the Roman ones callmedoctor has linked to - I'd always thought Roman was more expensive that that. They are nice. Look 'special' without being OTT Smile

Fingermoose · 09/01/2021 18:42

Have a look at Jolie Moi dresses on the John Lewis website. I've found them well cut and not too expensive. They usually have pockets too.

Woodpecker71 · 09/01/2021 18:49

I’ve ordered a couple from Hobbs so hopefully I’ll find something
