To ask for colonoscopy prep help

I am due to have both ends done tomorrow. I have been given picolax and senna. I have previously used citramag and senna and found that prep to be ok. I am scared about what I have read/heard about picolax - how 'forceful' it can be!! - and wanted to see what others' experience is??

For background I have possible long covid so my starting point is severe fatigue, palpitations, gastric issues, reflux, shortness of breath etc etc.

I am worried that the prep will wipe me out so much that I can't get to the hospital or that the propofol will set me back massively or that I will react badly.

I need the investigations done but has such awful palpitations all night last night I thought I might be having a heart attack or some sort of arrithmya...

What's your experience of picolax Vs citramag?
Anyone else with chronic fatigue undergone all this and come out ok??

I had propofol, fentanyl, something beginning with M and then buscopan as a muscle relaxant I think. So a nice cocktail! Oh and the spray to numb your throat - but I think you are not having the top end done?

I was out like a light whilst telling them I could no longer swallow (the weird numbing thing!). And woke up in recovery what felt like a few mins later!

I still have the taste of picolax as it gave me heartburn/indigestion overnight, hope you escape that joy!

@seriouslynonames Great yours went well! Delighted for you, I'm with you on the sleep I couldn't get into bed till nearly 1am as every time I tried I could feel a rumbling and had to run to the toilet. Think I got about an hour sleep and then had to get up at 5.30am and start on the next sachets which made me feel like I was going to vomit for hours after.
It was the most disgusting vile stuff I've ever had to take my belly is still making grumbling gurgling noises and like you I have the horrible taste and got awful heartburn I kept burping!.
I was given a little sedation conscious sedation I think they called it and said I would still feel it especially around the corners but apart from a few ouches out loud it was ok I was surprised took about 35 minutes but I would do the colonoscopy over the prep any day that was evil!!
When do you get the results of your biopsies? I didn't have any taken and he said I would be seen in outpatient clinic with results but he gave me a thumbs up and said very good which was nice.
Are you getting seen in a outpatient clinic too?
How do you feel now? I keep getting occasional fluttering like I need to empty my bowels but it's just some small liquid coming out this stuff must still be working it's way out.

Yes I am still gurgling, I just had a bath but was a bit on edge in case I needed to leap out!! Lots of wind but generally ok now. Very tired after the drugs and lack of sleep (I slept about an hour too!).

I get the results in a week or two I think, yes I'll have a follow up to discuss properly - esp if there is nothing worrying I still want to sort out my symptoms!

Well I am now truly well rested! I slept for over 12 hours.

All my prep went well, had the procedure, I have diverticulitis and they took 4 polyps for biopsy but the Consultant said he thought I had absolutely nothing to worry about.

Came home and ate a toasted cheese sandwich and two slices of Christmas cake
