Cleaner not cleaning under the rim.

Just had a good look at our toilets and seen that all the way around the rims are revolting.
We have had the same cleaners for a long time.
AIBU to expect that they would do this as a matter of routine?

I have a cleaner, but clean under my "rim" in every toilet every single day.

You're a dirty skank to leave it to the cleaner!

Yes I have a cleaner buy I’d not ask anyone to do a job I wouldn’t do myself

That's a bit silly, though, as there are loads of jobs that people freely choose to do that many others wouldn't want to, but will be grateful that others do. Funeral director? Late-night taxi driver? Person who codes millions of lines to produce computer software? Roving sawdust spreader under the rollercoasters at the theme park? Under-age girl sewing clothes in an Asian sweat-shop for pennies an hour?

#grimrim

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/01/2021 23:00

Yeah this gets my goat a lot. I use cleaners where it's not always the same lady and very few of them clean the toilet properly. They seem to ignore the brush provided and just dump bleach in and leave it. The limescale does NOT get sorted.

If you can't cope with cleaning a domestic toilet properly... don't be a cleaner. There are other jobs.

Finnyhaddock · 06/01/2021 23:00

I feel so ashamed now...okay not really. Yes I was bored and inspected my rims and they were grimy in the crevices but not exactly swimming in excrement.
I shall scrub them with bleach and a small toothbrush as soon as my manservant has been to the shops to purchase necessary supplies.

That's OTT and rude. The cleaner is being paid by OP to clean and its perfectly normal for that to include toilets.

DaphneBridgerton · 06/01/2021 23:04

Fucking helllllll the lockdown police are out in force today

DaphneBridgerton · 06/01/2021 23:05

Also the OP is definitely a dirty skank if she's leaving actual shit in/around the toilet and expecting the cleaner to deal with it... Sorry but it's true

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/01/2021 23:08

Daphne

Shes not not fucking flushing the loo.

It's a toilet. If its hardwater area limescale can start to build in days and it quickly develops a stain. It's not actual shit. Talk about overreaction.

Defenbaker · 06/01/2021 23:19

OP, maybe just explain your preferred rimming technique. Grin Not everyone is confident getting close to other people's rims.

I wouldn’t dream of expecting my cleaner to do my toilet - that’s just degrading

partyatthepalace · 07/01/2021 00:05

@Twobrews

So talk to them rather than boring us with your dirty rims! Grin
This.

Though more disturbed by the anti cleaner talk. It’s a job. There’s nothing wrong with it.

Bluesmartiesandpandapop · 07/01/2021 10:29

I would clean it now, but also say to the cleaner that can she keep an eye out as the rims were a bit dirty? I know that's not the hive mind on this, but honestly as somebody who has worked as a cleaner I would be more offended if the whole house was clean than by cleaning a less than pristine bog. Obviously no floaters or un flushed blocked loos etc

Candyfloss99 · 07/01/2021 10:34

Say to the cleaner, "can you clean my rim please it hasn't been done in a while?"

blueangel19 · 07/01/2021 11:00

Class guilt or envy? I am sure cleaners would be shocked to hear people would rather they starve rather than do cleaning jobs. I guess these people think they should be on benefits than in a lesser job.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/01/2021 11:00

Say to the cleaner, "can you clean my rim please it hasn't been done in a while?"

Best to wait until the regular cleaner goes on an extended holiday and sends a temporary replacement; then ask them, as you can be confident that they'll be interimming.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 07/01/2021 11:05

Take that to its logical conclusion, though, and you'd never flush anything down the toilet at all - as that would be degrading to the sewer men, to expect them to have to process your rank sirreverences.

Then again, without any fresh user-generated content regularly flooding their way, they would then very soon be completely out of a job(bie) themselves.

Uhhuhoyaye · 07/01/2021 11:06

One of the pleasures of my break up is my cleaner finally realised that it was my partner not me who left the toilets in a state. If I was the last to leave home I always cleaned them first, DP didn't.
She now cleans for me and has commented on how clean the toilets are.

Finnyhaddock · 07/01/2021 11:06

Just an update... I rubbered up my hands and got an old cloth and bleach and gave a very thorough wipe, right into all the nooks and crannies.
Toilet 1- a piece of toilet duck about a cm wide dislodged. Grey ish grime but not much. This loo is quite new as it's downstairs and the old one didn't flush very well. We were spending a lot on plumbers removing Richard the thirds as he called them. It was also a bit embarrassing asking people to poo upstairs.
Toilet 2 - my en-suite. A bit of grey grime, limescale I guess. I had had a bad tummy yesterday and cleaned up and that was when I noticed the grey edging.
Toilet 3 - family bathroom. Yuck!
Happy rimming to you all.

Bloody hell, clean it yourself

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2021 11:55

Thanks for the update OP. I think I'll leave my lunch for a bit.

GarlicSoup · 07/01/2021 11:59

@Toilenstripes

I do my own because I don’t think another human should have to clean my shit.
This

Give your head a wobble OP

Pyewhacket · 07/01/2021 12:01

It would have been quicker to do it yourself than come on here grizzling about it.
