Was watching Bridgerton the other day and it made me think that simply saying "indeed" in response to something is so elegant and we should bring it back! It sounds so succinct and wise. Way better than "totally" or the gushing "oh absolutely". It sounds mysterious

Also "must" and "most" as in "I must thank you, Mr X. Your letter was most welcome indeed."

Too fucking right.

tobedtoMNandfart · 06/01/2021 09:04

Indeed

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 06/01/2021 09:08

Oh good, I already use the word indeed, I am very pleased to come across most elegant and classy.

Willdoitlater · 06/01/2021 09:10

Verily, thy post is wise.

@Nottheduchessofcambridge
How do you use it? Standalone as I mention or as in "very good indeed"?

I think the classiest is when someone is pontificating and they use it as an opener: "Indeed, the figures show..."

I cant imagine saying it with a straight face, will need to practice

I too use the word 'indeed'. I hadn't realised it was unusual, but I do live in the 19th century!

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 06/01/2021 09:15

I use it stand alone when I agree with something someone has just said.
Sounds better than “omg yeah I thought that’s too” Wink

MaskingForIt · 06/01/2021 09:19

The German “Ja, genau” works like this. “Yes, I agree” works so well to keep conversations going.

Threeoleary · 06/01/2021 09:20

I use the word indeed, hadn't realised there was anything unusual about it. I also say 'quite' when I concur with what someone says.

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 06/01/2021 09:22

It's very much in used! Usually with a bit of irony, but I see it all the time probably even use it myself sometimes.

Miramour · 06/01/2021 09:22

Chur bro

CrotchBurn · 06/01/2021 09:24

Damn. I didn't realise I would be in a minority! I thought it had become really rare. And yeah, "quite" sounds great too!

OP posts:
allthegoodusernameshavegone · 06/01/2021 09:25

I too use indeed, I thought it was in common use.

Palavah · 06/01/2021 09:26

Quite so.

slashlover · 06/01/2021 09:44

I immediately thought of this too.

Indeeeeeeeeeeeed.

dudsville · 06/01/2021 10:03

I said it once it doesn't suit me. Similarly I can't "give someone the finger" (what's that gesture called?), just looks silly on me.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 06/01/2021 10:35

Teal'c did the same for me years ago😂

maras2 · 06/01/2021 10:48

'Indeed' ................ Said Flop to Bastard Bing.
Thank goodness DGC's are now too old for this Smile

sheslittlebutfierce · 06/01/2021 11:09

Indeed you are correct.

And this post has made me realise I already do this .... a lot
