To think that a 6/7/ year old boy is way to old to be stood in a museum drinking milk from a babies bottle???

The boy may have even been veering towards 8 - seriously.

He was just stood there walking about with a baby blue bottle whilst his mum quized him on mumification techniques, he was obviously a very intelligent boy (who was answering the questions in more detail then I could have!) so I really don't understand why he would be allowed a bottle at that age

OJ- DS1 shoves stuff down his pants- DH waiting to be accused of something awful as he frisks. But what choice is there?

MrsLynetteScavo · 27/10/2007 20:22

Peachy, that's a very good point about the coke. As a child I became dehydrated, and so was allowed to drink coke and cherry aid as much as I wanted. My motheres friends were most shocked, but I thought it was great.

MaryBS · 27/10/2007 21:05

Peachy, thank you, its really kind of you. Its come as a bit of a shock tbh, particularly as its virtually certain that I have it too... in fact I "ticked more boxes" than DS!

I've recently signed up with a board called ASDfriendly - do you know it?

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 27/10/2007 21:10

Know it vaguely- TTR is an offshoot of MN Sn board. My e-mail si epachesandcream 04 at btinternet 04 dot com if you do want a sign up, its really just a good cahnce to get ideas / let off steam etc- that sort of thing.

BTW dont worry too much about having it oyurself- ditto. paed agreed with me, DH si aware and really so what? At my grand old age its not going to affect anything much is it?

what if he were breastfeeding?

IlanaK · 27/10/2007 21:24

I would definately have done a double take at this too. But my eldest (who has no special needs) is 6, but quite large for his age. When he is really tired, he still sucks his thumb and has a comfort toy. Normally, this would only be at home. But on occasion, particularly when travelling, he does this in public. There is nothing wrong with him - we don't molycoddle him either - its just his way of comforting himself.

Thanks HeadGirl. Also thanks Peachy for making me 'pause for thought' on that perspective. It is one of, if not the poorest area in inner city Manchester, where all the statistics eg poverty and crime are through the roof. I have never really thought about peoples lack of access to parenting information other than that of the health vistor, who as it happens was shit. I am by nature, very judgmental and middle class but am becoming more open minded and tolerant since joining MN.

BabyBaggage · 27/10/2007 22:15

Was it his? Or did he mug a baby for it?

I'd only be concerned if it were the latter.

MaryBS · 28/10/2007 07:26

suwoo - I admire your honesty and willingness to listen to others.

Welcome!
