Concerns about cancer treatment and NHS being overwhelmed

Namechanged for that.

My husband is about to start aggressive cancer treatment. We are in London.

It is expected he will need to visit A&E several times in its course (the next two months) and might need hospitalisation.

The timing is obviously not ideal. We are not panicking but are concerned that if A&E and the hospital will become overwhelmed he will get a sub par treatment which can possibly cost him his life. We are considering leaving for his home country where the situation seems much more controlled. Of course this isn't ideal in all other aspects, we have kids in nursery and our apartment here. In normal situation I would have not given the idea of leaving a second thought.

We are trying to gauge how real is the fear that the hospitals will not function as usual here...

Thanks for your input!

Hi,

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I've been there so know how you feel.

My experience of hospitals in London and Surrey throughout all of this has been excellent. My husband's treatment has continued, every appointment, test and scan has happened as planned and A&E has been empty so any problems were dealt quick thoroughly and quickly.
