@YellowandGreenToBeSeen Same for me, I remember telling my mother at age 9 I wasn't having children. Never changed my mind.

Babies
Dogs
Camping
People tolerating/putting up with behaviour from relatives they wouldn't put up with from anyone else

Robbybobtail · 03/01/2021 21:18

Social media/instagram especially mrs hinch etc. I keep getting told I should follow her on Instagram as I have a lovely home (so I’m told)

  • I looked out of curiosity and I’m sorry, but I don’t understand why anyone with a modicum of good taste would look to her for some kind of lifestyle guidance! Her house is nothing special at all IMO. And she uses cleaning products that most people surely use anyway? Why do people treat something she’s using/advertising as the holy grail of cleaning products?! Mad.

Also:
Football
People who think their pets trump humans. Especially entitled dog owners - people who spread out on the path in the park with their dogs lead tripping over anyone trying to pass particularly pisses me off - pull your effing dog to one side!
Fake lashes, extensions, Botox, tan, boob jobs etc. oh, and contouring - looks freaky!
And Dubai. Dunno why anyone would want to go to Dubai! (And I’ve been - not through choice)
Love island and similar shows
Shopping as a day out
Having to buy the latest iPhone/gadget

The current KFC ad showing someone pouring gravy over a hamburger - it makes me want to throw up every time

OMG, I have to turn that advert over or avert my eyes - who on earth at the advertising agency thought that looked appetising? Bleugh.

Not applicable at the moment but when a whole family including grannies, aunts, uncles etc are present when someone is giving birth.

Perfume
Fancy shoes
fancy handbags

BritWifeinUSA · 03/01/2021 21:27

A mother-in-law - I’m on my second marriage but in both cases the husband’s mother died before I met the husband so I’ve never had a mother-in-law.
Motherhood
Make up
Not being able to drive. I’m constantly amazed how many British people I know of and read about on here who can’t drive. I can’t imagine not being able to drive. I’d feel stuck.
Chewing gum. Why?

LippyChick · 03/01/2021 21:28

Hot tubs - a gurgling pit of warm body fluids with some bleach thrown in.
Colin Firth
Blueberries
Gwyneth Paltrow
Competitive parenting
But any tiger mums out there whose idea of heaven is eating blueberries in a hot tub with Colin and Gwinnie, you go girl!

Scolha · 03/01/2021 21:29

Fizzy drinks.

Instagram, posting selfies while pouting in the mirror, unconcealed smug self obsession. I just feel so embarrassed for people. When did presenting yourself as an egocentric moron become normal behaviour

Trying to get pregnant.
None of my (5) pregnancies were planned and neither were my mum's (3), my best friend's (5) or my sisters (3 and 2). Getting pregnant just happened to people, in our circle. Then living in poverty, on benefits and usually not with the DC's (often several) fathers.

Then met SIL and her and her DH had tried for a decade and then fostered. Can't imagine how hard that must have been, but also can't imagine what it's like to look forward to pregnancy tests and be nothing but delighted with the result.

Of course I love all my 3 children (had a stillbirth and a then a termination after the first 3) but I do sometimes wish young me had been a bit more sensible and maybe got a decent career, some savings or even bought a house before having children! I just wasn't raised to see that as normal, I suppose.

MartiniDry · 03/01/2021 21:41

Reality TV
Camping
Other people's children
Getting drunk
Going to the hairdresser (I always want to slap their hand away and tell them to stop pulling me about!).
Grey walls, curtains, furniture, carpets. Almost everything grey, actually.
Ante natal classes
Mother and baby groups
Baking

Oysterbabe · 03/01/2021 21:41

A lot of grooming stuff. Clothes that don't keep you warm and dry, nails that are long and make doing stuff hard, shoes that I can't walk let alone run in. Why do people disable themselves like that? Injecting shit into your face, plastering thick makeup, fake tan.. What's the point? I'm not an ornament, my function isn't decorative. Getting older is normal and natural. I'm not winning any beauty contest but I don't care, it is what it is.

Chocolateandamaretto · 03/01/2021 21:45

Cycling
Prosecco
Asinine 80s/90s kids films that people only like because of the nostalgia factor. The fact that more than once this Christmas period I’ve had to justify not wanting to watch Home alone is just excessive....
