Because women have rights to the privacy, dignity and safety of a single sex female space in circumstances when they are vulnerable, without any males in it.

Orlania · 10/01/2021 12:35

how do trans people impeach on women's rights?

Transwomen impeach on women's rights. Not all of them. But those who think they should have the same rights to women's spaces and legal protections do.
And fyi, Transmen don't impeach on women's rights. So let's be clear who we are actually talking about here.

zeitgeista · 10/01/2021 12:37

so why do you focus on the apparent exclusion of women's rights caused by trans women, but not on the exclusion on men's rights caused by trans men?

Robbybobtail · 10/01/2021 12:41

How many transmen do you hear of who want to use male toilets/changing rooms, play mens sports, be interred in mens prisons?

Why do you think that is?

zeitgeista · 10/01/2021 12:46

actually, a lot would.

it is their identity, they >are< men so they will act as any other man.

women aren't fragile little creatures who need protecting like everyone on the feminism boards seems to think.
men aren't out to get you anymore than a woman would be out to get a man.

before you say anything, i am biologically female and still identify as one.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/01/2021 12:56

it is their identity, they >are< men so they will act as any other man.

But they do not. Because they are female.

Orlania · 10/01/2021 12:59

Because I'm only interested in the safety and rights of women and children. If men have a problem with transmen accessing their spaces then they need to deal with it. Although I doubt men are generally as bothered about transmen in their spaces or in sport, as women don't present the same threat to them as men do to women. And transmen are, as you know, biological women.

Orlania · 10/01/2021 13:02

Not all men no. But seeing as it is men who carry out the vast majority of sexual offences, and transwomen are biological men, then only the deluded, and the activists who want to water down women's rights, would fail to see the problem here.

Men aren't threatened by transmen...because they're women. It's more unsafe for a trans man in a man's space than it is for men having them there

But as transwomen are men, and part of a class that cause violence and harassment at rates that are nothing short of an epidemic, against women, they are a threat.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 10/01/2021 13:14

@zeitgeista

men aren't out to get you anymore than a woman would be out to get a man.

1 in 5 women sexually assaulted
1 in 10 women raped
1 in 4 women victims of DV
2 women a week murdered

All the above - which don't even scratch the surface of the problem - are acts of violence committed by men on women.

People like you need to stop gaslighting women into thinking men aren't a problem

You know, sweetlums, nobody gives a flying fuck whether you identify as a man or a woman or a bloody plant pot. Just shut up about it and stop boring others with your incessant navel-gazing.
There's a topic - Feminism - that is concerned with the trans issue amongst others and it would be best if you could hop over there with your ishoos.

Trans issues can be discussed anywhere. HTH.

Also many of us do care how others identify when they try and appropriate our sex and occupy hard fought for single sex spaces.
Also HTH

i will never understand why people on mumsnet use 'TRA' as an insult.

god forbid we think people should be allowed to be happy.

Oh don't be so dramatic.

Nobody wants trans people to be unhappy.

But we want to protect single sex spaces, language, definitions, bodily autonomy and women's rights. Trans people can be happy without riding roughshod over the rights of women.

Orlania · 10/01/2021 14:47

god forbid we think people should be allowed to be happy.

Totally happy for people to be happy. That includes transpeople. Don't take away my happiness though by making myself and my children unsafe, all in the name of happiness.

CountessFrog · 10/01/2021 14:55

Another thing Ive noticed over the years is a lack of gentle humour. Just attacking others.

Regarding my post about grammar. We were being asked how it was different years ago. I answered, and it was very clear that I was not attacking the person who made the error. It was being used to gently illustrate a point, when others had erroneously attributed such errors to the increased use of smartphones.

People were also much less keen to take offence in the past. Today we seem to have been flooded with angry and ‘professionally offended’ people. It’s tiring.

StCharlotte · 10/01/2021 19:00

Taking multiple pregnancy tests every five minutes before your period is even due is fucking ridiculous and a criminal waste of plastic. Just wait.

RabbityMcRabbit · 10/01/2021 19:11

You had a very expérience to me then. I took all the painkillers I was offered and asked for some too, but the days after were agony. I suppose everyone has a different experience.
