point taken. but should that not apply to the face. somepeople might be telling some really shocking news. same goes for the face.

if you need a sad face to convey grief at that sort of bereavement, well maybe some vocabulary stretching is in order, I think the sad face should have a hat too, it might cheer someone up

I agree that the face should be hat-less but don't mind about the face as it's (mostly) used in a jokey way.

I think that the should not have a hat, threads where it is used tend to be more of the heartbreaking ones and a jokey hat would be out of place.

I am a bit unsure of the one, it makes it look less angry somehow. It should really have the hat crumpled beneath the face as if it is being jumped up and down on in rage.

Once you have them (having pressed F5) how do you get rid of the buggers again????? I do remember that last Christmas you had the option of putting an f before the word to get a festive Santa hat emoticon, whereas now there is no choice. Please could we have a choice so you can hat if you want to but not if you don't?????????????????????
