It's fine to send a puppy back to the breeder if you find having a dog isn't for you. Better that than being a shit dog owner for 13 years or rejoining it once it's fully grown.

Then again my other unpopular opinion is that I reckon about 9 out of 10 dogs are annoying, badly trained, and not as wonderful as their owner thinks. And they ALL smell. The only place dogs should have in this world are as service dogs.

Seasaltyhair · 03/01/2021 10:45

You only need to wash bedding and towels once a month

Boak

@nuitdesetoiles

A lot of "mental health" is the pathologising of a normal emotional response to everyday stresses, and massively so in CAMHS.

Nurses aren't angels and the deification of the NHS isn't helpful, and it's not just due to government incompetence, it's also down to NHS management and outdated archaic systems. E.g.

I say this as a senior mental health nurse 17 year career spent in the NHS, now left hopefully never to return.

100% agree on all these points
AnxiousSM · 03/01/2021 10:46

That it's ok for step mums to not love their step children and that I'm in a relationship with their father, not them, and definitely not their mother.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 03/01/2021 10:47

@AnxiousSM totally agree. It's even ok for the couple to go on a long luxurious holiday without taking the kids. I'll go further - it's ok for them to take one set of lids on holiday and not the other.

Icenii · 03/01/2021 10:47

TheSilentStars there's a whole other forum that prides itself on calling non overweight people from here TeenyTiny and pulls them to bits. I'm sure they think they are very cool and relaxed but it screams of self hatred and self loathing.

RickOShay · 03/01/2021 10:50

I like overweight people and find them attractive, both men and women.

Twobrews · 03/01/2021 10:50

I trust my husband.

Roast dinner are not complete without roast potatoes and mashed potatoes.

Animals shouldn't be bred for pets.

Stay at home parents and working parents are not two different species. The vast majority of parents are just trying to do the best for their families and themselves. Posters who make judgements and negative comments about either way of living just sound bitter.

Pyjamas on adults should be kept out of the public, including social media.

cactus2020 · 03/01/2021 10:51

There sure is a lot of excessive cleaning and laundry going on on MN.
Lots of MN posters bang on about inclusion and fairness for some groups while fiercely defending inaccessible, unfair and divisive private education. Seems hypocritical.
Lovin my loo brush.

HankMarvinjg · 03/01/2021 10:54

Blood isn't everything either. .

Pinkyandthebrainz · 03/01/2021 10:54

Euthanasia should be widely available for those who want it and we should stop being obsessed with interventions that ensure people live longer and longer. Death is normal.

CAPTCHAchacha · 03/01/2021 10:55

Here’s a genuinely unpopular one: house prices need to crash. Your losing ‘equity’ in your house is no more terrible than someone (an entire generation even) not being able to buy one in the first place. So many of our problems are tied to overpriced housing, but the nation is addicted to it.

As for trans issues, I don’t think TWAW is particularly unpopular here except on the feminism chat board. The mantra is nonsense – in what sense are they actually women? – but that’s for another thread.

Isteamagoodham · 03/01/2021 10:55

Thought of one more...

I don't mind 'gender reveals'. Admittedly I find them a bit tacky and probably wouldn't have one, but I think they're harmless fun. I don't think having one will damage your child psychologically for life. I think people often overreact to them and act like you're forcing your child to be a certain way.

I think the opposite. If your child does grow up and decide they identify as the opposite gender , that won't change because you once popped a balloon filled with pink glitter weeks before they were even born.

Bookworming · 03/01/2021 10:56

I agree at @Pinkyandthebrainz

malificent7 · 03/01/2021 10:56

Mn is very middle class and very unfriendly to other classes, especially working class people.

CremeEggThief · 03/01/2021 10:56

Helicopter parents are a disgrace. Any parent who doesn't seem to follow a laissez faire/ benign neglect approach is suspicious in my book.

Following on from that, parents who treat adult children as children and still carry on running around after them make me sick. You are a massive part of the problem of an infantalised society. And you should be charging working adults board, even if you don't need it, on principle.

Unless it is highly dysfunctional, most children are far better off with their own parents, either both biological parents or a single parent, than step parents. All this bollocks that a step family and having step parents means that the child has more people who love them is the biggest pile of shit going and just an attempt for selfish adults to justify putting their own needs first.
Far, far more people should stay single for far, far longer after a serious relationship breakdown. I'm nearly 9 years after divorce and still happily single, as what I've seen out there on my limited dating encounters, would not add anything to my life. More people should think the same as me!

As a pedestrian, both drivers and cyclists are selfish bastards! And if you try to drive or cycle at me when I'm already on the road, you will get a mouthful of abuse.Angry

funinthesun19 · 03/01/2021 10:58

Because we don't all live in cities with excellent public transport. The first train of the day hasn't been through our village yet.
Although, if I couldn't drive I would live in a city.

That doesn’t explain why “everyone” needs a car though. If you genuinely need one because you live rurally then I totally get why you would get one.

But for someone like me who lives in a busy town with excellent transport links, why am I judged for not having one?

CremeEggThief · 03/01/2021 10:58

Gosh, that felt cathartic! I don't think I've been as open as that on a thread before.Grin

ivfbabymomma1 · 03/01/2021 11:00

Being child isn't a medical condition but infertility is?! That being said I paid for my IVF privately! But these ivf comments are getting to me so much!!!!!

HotSauceCommittee · 03/01/2021 11:01

I think that the UK public has generally come to the end of their natural compliance with Covid rules and lockdowns.
People are making their own judgements whether we agree with them or not, and doing their own thing contrary to current guidelines and laws.
Yes, it will spread the virus, and no, I haven't been a big law breaker, but we are social animals, many of whom want to be out and about, seeing family and friends.
Lockdown and tiering (is that a word?) has come to the end for many, who are just doing what they want to do now.
Asking "what makes you so special" and calling people who come on here to justify what they are up to, selfish, makes no difference.
I'm not criticising or advocating either way, this is just the way I see it and what I am observing.
Some of us just have more reason not to expose themselves to the virus or to avoid spreading it.
My reason is I am just about to start a new job after doing six months of in work training and am not about to jeopardise that.
It's self interest and many of us have different priorities.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/01/2021 11:01

Having neighbours and work colleagues on your personal social media is rarely a good idea.

Ignore. These comments are always from women who can plop them out easily! Wink

Couldn't agree more.
JKR said nothing offensive or discriminatory and is a heroic role model for young women.

nuitdesetoiles · 03/01/2021 11:02

@Delphine0 I'm with you on all of that apart from the bedding...I am a weekly bedding woman myself!! But the rest 100%. Esp private school.

Seasaltyhair · 03/01/2021 11:03

People who hate private schools are just jealous Grin
