Covid test delivered to me but I never ordered one

Just had a Covid testing kit delivered. It has my name and address on it but I haven't ordered one nor do I need one. It hasn't been ordered through work and none of my family know anything about it. I'm kinda at a loss for what I should do next. Anyone experienced this?

Ring 119?

Maybe you're one of the random people selected to do a test but you just never received a letter to explain this

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 02/01/2021 16:37

Have you ordered one previously?
If you did, maybe your details got put on the wrong database in error, or a "test dispatched" field was unflagged in error.

I'd just keep it in case you need it at some point in the future.

I was randomly picked a few months ago to have a test but there was a letter with my test. Mine said I had been picked through my local GP surgery so might be worth asking them

QuestionableMouse · 02/01/2021 16:48

No letter. I'm currently on hold with my GP. I'll also give 119 a try.

I feel bloody guilty having it when I don't need it.

Eh? Why?

It's just a swab and a tiny plastic tube.
There's millions of them.

It might be for the Imperial study. I received one this morning. It is a random study. If it is the same then just book the courier and then do the test on collection day.
I did receive a letter regarding the random testing in early December. May be yours just got lost.

QuestionableMouse · 02/01/2021 17:01

My dad did that study but got a letter first.

Can't get through to the doctor's. I'll try again in the morning.

I was randomly chosen, but I’m sure they sent me a letter first, I’d give my details and then they sent me one.
Is it maybe your work place sending you one?

QuestionableMouse · 02/01/2021 17:22

No, I asked work and they know nothing about it. Also I don't work in a sector that has testing.

My husband was asked to take part in the study as well. Went online to agree to it. Kit arrived Thursday. Appointment for courier collection made online today for Thursday. Apparently once you've done the test, it needs to be kept in the fridge till collection. I wonder how many out of date lumps of cheese will be sent by mistake?
