to ask if before covid, people resented people who weren't spending within "their" industry?

The title isn't well expressed and the situation is different at the moment. I was wondering if people who work/ worked in areas that are "discretionary spending" for customers resented people who didn't spend within that area, or changed habits and spent less. For example, if you are a hairdresser, do you resent people who don't have their hair dyed and only have an occasional hair cut? what about people who don't have a lot of waxing manicures etc if that is your area? who don't borrow money if that is your area? who don't buy very many clothes if you working in clothing retail etc. People who drink less and don't go out very often if you work in the hospitality industry? What about people giving up alcohol entirely and avoiding those situation because they realise they have a problem? If you work in car sales do you think people should change cars more often? And anyone who switched between two of these areas, did your opinion on what other people should be spending money on change when you moved? I know I've missed out lots of examples here. I'm curious to know what people really feel about this. (and have realised that nearly everyone I'm close enough to to ask works in area where everyone hope they won't need those services, or needs them anyway.)
