Frightened

Today I am frightened. I have no one in real life to tell this to, so I'm writing it here. I'm frightened for my ds, working in a covid testing centre, and for my dd, who is having panic attacks and for my 86 year old dm and for all of us.
I don't trust the vaccination program to be anything like sufficient.

Can I ask why you don’t trust the vaccination program? That’s a genuine question, not a judgemental one. I don’t trust it myself due to such a short time for it to be rolled out but I’ve been told repeatedly that this makes me an anti vaxxer and I am the devil (despite the fact that my children have received every vaccination offered to them and already have a child with ASD and am not at all concerned about any vaccine having “given” him autism Hmm)

I don’t think you’re unreasonable for being scared, I am too! And so utterly exhausted by all of it as well Flowers

I trust the vaccines to work. I think that it's wonderful that they exist. But I don't believe they can be manufactured and delivered fast enough to help significantly.

You have my sympathies OP. We’ve never experienced anything like this before and it’s all unknown and scary. My grandmother has just been diagnosed with emphysema and I worry about her so much. She has already been in hospital for 7 days, unable to breathe without oxygen. Luckily she is home now but it’s hard not to worry.

On the plus side, my Mum and her colleagues are working flat out to administer vaccines (north east). From mid-December to Christmas Eve they worked 12 hour shifts to get through their 90,000 allocate vaccines. They are also working 12 hours 7 days a week in January. They are working so hard to vaccine as many people as possible. ❤️

Thanks to your mum and her friends Londonstone DS also doing 12 hr shifts. I wish he was vaccinated. I dread him catching it. His friend did, and has been ill for a month, lost a stone in the 1st week. It's not true to say young people hardly notice it.
