It’s been a hard year, I have been out of work most of it due to lockdowns and DD7 having to shield ( post heart transplant )
I did give birth to a beautiful unexpected daughter ( knew I was pregnant for less than a month ) she is now home and beautiful addition to our family ( DS13 and DD7 )
I have just decided to put our house up on the market for a bigger place ( 3 bed to 4 )
I enjoyed having some time off work and spending some time with the kids which isn’t often something I get to do.
Hope everyone has a lovely new year well as much as possible ❤️

Spending so much more time with my kids. Being able to work from home. Seeing my DD follow her dreams. Moving home. Slowing down. Exercising lots

RickOShay · 31/12/2020 23:53

That’s brilliant @Kakiweewee, very inspiring.
I love my dog very much. He’s getting old now and has osteoarthritis, he’s very wobbly. I have been with him nearly all time and I’m grateful for that. He looks for me and here I am, I’m here.

Kakiweewee · 31/12/2020 23:55

@Hollybutnoivy

Finally got out of clinical depression (thanks vitamin D) What??! Congratulations on all the achievements.
I have chronic pain and fatigue and just kept struggling to keep going when making changes to deal with the mental health stuff.

Found out I was severely deficient in March, and started on the tablets immediately, and OMG the difference! Less pain, no longer dropping off to sleep all day, motivation and mojo returned!

TotalWipeOutG · 01/01/2021 00:00

Aw surprise baby! That's lovely Smile

Mine is similar I guess in that also a baby related surprise.

But we suffered fertility issues for years including miscarriages. Literally on our last try before starting IVF (which would have been delayed due to Covid) and bam by some stroke of luck this time its worked and here I am 8 months pregnant after years of thinking I'd never see the day Smile

Spanielmadness · 01/01/2021 00:19

I’ve made new friends in the area I relocated to. Spent loads of time outdoors and managed to get away multiple times - in Europe and the UK.

thismeansnothing · 01/01/2021 00:26

I got an Eggnogg Latte at Starbucks.

After last year's shitshow with under ordering and it being unavailable EVERYWHERE (I rung nearly every Starbucks in the north west to see if they had it in only to be told no) I managed to get not one, not two but THREE of these beauts this Christmas. It has been my highlight 😂

Destinysdaughter · 01/01/2021 00:29

Best thing is that my friendships have got a lot closer and I've even been having more real conversations with my sister's and we've never been close. Ive appreciated the things i do have in my life. And I'm still here.

littlefireseverywhere · 01/01/2021 00:32

@thenewaveragebear1983

I get what you mean about knowing who you are& mote consolidated. I agree, I’m exercising more, finally in a routine. Eating better, both teens are as well as can be expected. DH & I need a focus bit that’ll come.

Could do with a cracking holiday though in 2021!

KeyboardWorriers · 01/01/2021 00:38

@TotalWipeOutG that put a huge smile on my face, congratulations!!!

Trixieandkatya · 01/01/2021 00:39

My DS started school this year and is absolutely loving it, this is a big relief as he has ADHD and I was really worried about how he was going to handle the transition from pre-school (we're not in the UK) where it's mostly play to doing formal work. He's loving all the new challenges and his teacher is really pleased with him, it's really been the highlight of this shitty year for me.

The other big positive is that after 38 years someone picked up on the fact that I myself may have ADD, which has put a lot of my life into perspective and made me feel that maybe I'm not useless at being an adult after all!

Bluntasduck · 01/01/2021 00:45

I had bloody excellent therapy that went a long way to healing my CPTSD

Darbs76 · 01/01/2021 00:46

I got fit, despite health issues and lost 24lbs and an the lowest in my adult life. Became an exercise fan!

LadyJaye · 01/01/2021 00:49

I'm autistic.

I started a new, senior, permanently remote role in my specialist field in June and, in spite of it being high-pressured, my mental health has never been better.

There are probably a lot of neurodivergent people out there in a happy place right now.

SendHelp30 · 01/01/2021 00:50

@LadyJaye brilliant news, congratulation! My son has autism amongst other things and this is so lovely to see. I wish you the best of luck with your new job.

Dontsayyouloveme · 01/01/2021 00:51

Since March, because I’ve been working from home, I’ve been able to take my son straight to class and pick him up straight from class, he would normally be in breakfast and after school club every day!

It’s amazing to be able to do this, I’ll never forget this time! ☺️

Backtoblack1 · 01/01/2021 00:51

Cutting toxic people out of my life.
Spending more time at home with my kids and dog.
Realising what really are the important things in life.

Happy 2021 all x

Craftycorvid · 01/01/2021 00:53

Got the job I want - and was able to carry on doing it. Added to my qualifications. Discovered running outdoors and wouldn’t go back in the gym (well, I can’t anyway as my gym closed for good not long after the first lockdown Confused).

Badabingbadabum · 01/01/2021 00:54

I haven't tried to kill myself like I did in2019. Which sounds really teenage melodramatic but also true. We've reduced our outgoings thanks to a house move and payment plans and things coming to an end. I 've reduced my dose of antidepressants. It has been a better year. I'm hoping 2021 will mean we can do all the things I wantedand was otherwise able to this year.

RedToothBrush · 01/01/2021 00:56

Got closer to a bunch of awesome friends I know I can rely on.
Took up gardening. Love it. Helps with anxiety.
Taught DS to read.
Spent quality time with DH.
DH got to do more outdoor stuff he never normally has time for.
Learn to appreciate what I have more rather than what I don't have.
Improved my cooking.
Lost weight. Put it on again. Lost it again. Then ate cake and cheese at Christmas. (And didn't regret it. Yet).

Oooohbehave · 01/01/2021 00:57

I started a little side business during lockdown, which is doing really well. My children became so close during the first lockdown and more independent. I've saved a lot of money as I've not had to pay for school trips and clubs. I've had worse years to be honest but I appreciate that I've been very lucky.

MrsBobDylan · 01/01/2021 00:59

I set up my own business, passed our initial assessment to train to foster and approved for direct payments for respite for ds10 (third application in six years).

We have had some hard years but this has not been one of them.

You have had a MASSIVE year op and it is to your credit that you can end it by celebrating the good in it. Hope 2021 is beautiful for you and your family!

Brighterthansunflowers · 01/01/2021 01:06

Got a promotion (but being made redundant in 2021)

Erm... that’s it.

LadyJaye · 01/01/2021 01:10

@SendHelp30 Thank you for the good wishes, that's very kind.

All the very best to you and your son.

StillMedusa · 01/01/2021 01:27

Saw my DS1 off to Australia after a long wit for a couples visa... I miss him terribly, but he is happy and where he is supposed to be.

Watched DD2 get married, after a lot of 'will it happen' stress, with just 10 of us, at the family home, and it ws beautiful, intimate and perfect.. and DS1 joined us live via video :)

Discovered that I am to be a Granny in the spring (DD2 again) and as she and her dh are still waiting for their house purchase to go through, I have them with us, and get to feel the baby kicking... just magical.

We are still all well, and feel incredibly grateful as we all work in health care or education and I'm amazed we have not got sick yet!

caringcarer · 01/01/2021 01:38

DH had successful surgery to remove a brain tumour. It was pressing on his optic nerve and making him go blind. So grateful he got it done just before Covid hit country. His sight is perfect now. DS who worked for agency for almost 3 years was taken on directly by company so better paid and more job security. None of my family have got Covid. I am very grateful for all of these things.
