It’s been a hard year, I have been out of work most of it due to lockdowns and DD7 having to shield ( post heart transplant )
I did give birth to a beautiful unexpected daughter ( knew I was pregnant for less than a month ) she is now home and beautiful addition to our family ( DS13 and DD7 )
I have just decided to put our house up on the market for a bigger place ( 3 bed to 4 )
I enjoyed having some time off work and spending some time with the kids which isn’t often something I get to do.
Hope everyone has a lovely new year well as much as possible ❤️

We moved to our beautiful new house and DS made friends on the street.
DS started at his Grammar School.
Managed a holiday abroad although we had 2 others cancelled.
The weather this summer was incredible.
DH and I have managed to spend 10 months WFH together without killing each other!

Still1nLove · 31/12/2020 22:31

My covid test.....

Cam2020 · 31/12/2020 22:37

Arh, congrats on your new baby!
What a lovely, positive thread. I know people have had a really rough ride, but I find it quite sad when people rubbish a whole year of their life and can only see the negatives.

For me, I've got to spend more time with my family as I've been WFH instead of commuting to my office.

ConorMasonsWife · 31/12/2020 22:38

Me and my family have got on lovely and had so much time together. We actually managed to do a small holiday this year, yes it was masks everywhere and there was a lot less 'indoor' things like swimming, museums and pick and paint pottery but it was nice to have a reason to not do those things if I'm honest. We had a lovely day trip in one of my favourite places back in early feb before anything huge happened here and had a lovely day(though it seems a lifetime ago). We had coronavirus and recovered well. A vaccine has started being rolled out which means I might be able to see my grandma next year!

ThankyouLinus · 31/12/2020 22:38

Congratulations on your DD!

After renting for 11 years we bought our first home! Something I never thought I'd achieve. It's a dream come true.

lovellost · 31/12/2020 22:38

Too many to count

Congratulations on the new baby girl 🎉

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 31/12/2020 22:42

After fighting infertility for 5 years I gave birth to our first beautiful baby. My little boy is an absolute joy and the highlight of 2020

roarfeckingroarr · 31/12/2020 22:43

My first baby. He's wonderful and it's made all the bad things fade to background noise.

chuffedasbuttons · 31/12/2020 22:46

Got rid of an infantile man. Feel free. Happy on my own and all the time I've had with my DC.

Got a new job.

2020 has been shocking for many people. I've had so much trauma in the last seven years that this year has been a walk in the park.

MrsMouse03 · 31/12/2020 22:58

My job was furloughed and no chance of getting better so new job which is better. Realised how much I love my family and son has my issues and nearly list him so overjoyed that he is is still here and looking forward to 2021 whatever it may bring. Happy new year all Smile

MrsMouse03 · 31/12/2020 22:59

MH issues and nearly lost him Confused

bearlyactive · 31/12/2020 23:10

CakeRequired · 31/12/2020 23:15

Brexit, I'm hitting the bubbly shortly.

You're brave. Grin

Tangledtresses · 31/12/2020 23:18

As a single parent to two boys
We've pulled together enjoyed our time together
I've worked throughout (own business)

And ive seen some friends pull some horrendous shit on me and seen them for what they are 😳

CauliflowerCheese30 · 31/12/2020 23:23

I have met some wonderful bitches this year, all because of mumsnet, we haven't met up yet, hopefully we will once this is all over, but we joined a WhatsApp group chat for Animal Crossing, and the rest as they say is history, I've made some amazing friends on that group chat and they've made this year far more bearable.

CauliflowerCheese30 · 31/12/2020 23:24

And bitches is our group chat name, we're not really bitches

Tobebythesea · 31/12/2020 23:26

It’s been the toughest year in so many ways but:

I got a new job which I love after being made redundant last year.

I got into uni on a course I’ve been thinking about but putting off for several years due to cost (only had a day to write the application form) but new funding became available this year.

Got to spend a lot of time with my DH and children.

My DD got into her first preference primary school after being on for waiting list for months.

Getting an invite today for the Covid vaccine next week.

Kakiweewee · 31/12/2020 23:31

Quit caffeine.
Quit opiate pain relief after 15yrs.
Finally got out of clinical depression (thanks vitamin D)
Lost 80lbs.
Cleaned up my hoarder house.
Started living independently again.
Adopted my cat Ghost.

KeepOnKeepingOnKeepingOn · 31/12/2020 23:37

Congratulations @Whattheactual20201 Thanks
Love always shines.

My positive is that despite job loss, loss of confidence, and complete financial change that DH has been really supportive, and will support me regardless. I feel lucky to have that.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 31/12/2020 23:42

Purchased a house outright after renting for four years. Was at risk of wasting our savings on rent as we were out of work for five months this year. No furlough either.

Lost my surviving parent but inherited some money.

Husband and I both have jobs now.

We are going to adopt two cats as soon as pet adoptions are back on.

Hollybutnoivy · 31/12/2020 23:44

Finally got out of clinical depression (thanks vitamin D) What??! Congratulations on all the achievements.

KeyboardWorriers · 31/12/2020 23:45

We got to know all our neighbours (in a safe and socially distanced way but just seeing them around more meant more chances for a quick hello, and tragedy struck one neighbour so we all worked out a way to all do our bit).

I discovered how amazingly resilient and adaptable my children are.

I discovered it is possible to do lengthy contract negotiations with a small child sat behind me "styling" my hair

Erm

We got to know all the local walks so well we could do them blindfolded

I found an excellent online tutor for my primary age children when their schools let them down and I will keep her going throughout primary for them as she has added so much value, and enjoyment of learning, to their lives.

I discovered that even when DH and I are in the same house for weeks on end I still really enjoy his company

I realised that even though my siblings annoy me intensely I miss them a lot when I can't see them Grin

SendHelp30 · 31/12/2020 23:48

Congratulations on your new babies PPs.

Good
-DH has been at home a lot more

  • I got a job that I’ve been studying for for the past 3 years whilst being a SAHM
-Gotten to spend a lot more time with DC.
  • Finished the renovation of our home.

Bad-
-Lost a grandparent
-DS1 who has disabilities regressed massively and is struggling even more now
-I might not end up starting my new job because of the above and the amount of support DS is going to need

DartmoorChef · 31/12/2020 23:51

Fostered and adopted my absolute nutter furry best mate. Only good thing for 2020.

What are your positives this year ?!
Mochatatts · 31/12/2020 23:53

Got to spend lots more time with OH, he's a chef and normally works ridiculous hours. Spent lots of time doing not alot, around working. Got settled in a new area and had time to explore together with all 4 kids. Got pregnant first try with our first child and only daughter (due in 6wks)
Talked to friends more than normal online or on the phone. Got divorced! Didn't let the stress of covid or lockdown send my mental health spiralling having worked so hard to finally address long standing issues. Improved my relationship with my dad. Not a great year in terms of seeing people in person but wasn't all bad.
Can't wait to meet our little girl, so excited x
