We live on a private drive tucked away with 5 houses. Our neighbours (very sociable, always breaking Covid rules) invited us neighbours out earlier for a socially distanced drink round a fire pit on his drive, spilling over to ours. Didn’t fancy it tbh. Glad I didn’t cause he’s obviously invited loads of his friends too! So fed up of this now! Selfish people making it worse for everyone else! I wouldn’t mind but he’s always moaning about covidiots on Facebook.

Whilst I was doing a food shop today, there were lots of groups of 18+ year olds buying alcohol and talking about parties. I know school mums who are also flouting the law and were right at the start of the pandemic. There’s little we can do but just try and do our bit, there will always be rule-breakers!

wanderings · 31/12/2020 21:49

YABU to post this curtain-twitching shite outside the Coronavirus topic, where all those with polished haloes should be quarantined.

Sh05 · 31/12/2020 21:49

We lost our school IT technician last week. He also worked in the local hospital as his main job. 36 yrs old, no underlying health conditions and father of 4 lovely children under 12.
Report him OP, also take a picture for your local Facebook page.

DartmoorChef · 31/12/2020 21:50

If they are outside, socially distanced, then i really really don't see a problem.

Plenty of people held street parties in the summer for VE day celebrations.

Meepmeeep · 31/12/2020 21:50

@GalaxyCookieCrumble read the fucking thread - I’ve clarified more than once it was sarcasm. I thought it would be obvious from the post. It’s hoggers - chill out min.

SoupDragon · 31/12/2020 21:52

where all those with polished haloes should be quarantined.

Not being a selfish idiot doesn't require a halo.

lazyarse123 · 31/12/2020 21:53

@Redrunbluerun

These people are breaking the NHS, they want to listen to some of the critical care consultants, almost in tears, unable to cope. People blame the government, but it’s selfish people like this with blood on their hands. The rules are there, bloody follow them.
It's a shame that not everybody thinks like this. I work in a shop and told two customers today that we sell masks (because obviously they weren't wearing any) they just told me that they don't work. Well possibly not but it's not his choice to put me and vulnerable customers at risk. This pandemic has really proved what selfish arseholes people can be.

They won't be socially distant if they're pissed. Plus it's not allowed.
Rupertpenrysmistress · 31/12/2020 21:59

I now have 2 colleagues in ITU ventilated with covid and another 2 off sick. I would love a say off but my hospital is on its knees and I couldn't in good conscience do this. It is so stressful, the first wave was nothing like this. This takes my nursing team down to dangerous levels that's excluding the sheilded ones. Please just a little while longer.

Anotherpointofview1 · 31/12/2020 22:03

No, I just wish people would care about deaths other than covid. I wish that people realised how many people die every year from cancer. From heart disease. From any number of other horrible things. How many more are going to die because all we have now is the national covid service, that doesn't care about you unless you have covid.

I also wish people realised that in winter there are queues outside of ambulances in any number of a&es. As standard. And I am fucking sick of all these preening tossers who think that nothing else matters.

Anotherpointofview1 · 31/12/2020 22:06

I'm also sick of the people who spend their time emoting about individuals in itu. As if nothing else matters- kids lives, the economy, hundreds of thousands of bust businesses. Its a new form of religion. And its sick.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 31/12/2020 22:06

Anyone thinking this isn't a big deal, watch BBC news now, LISTEN to the Doctors utterly broken by covid. Yes, the NHS struggles in winter, but not like this and not this many people on ventilators.
I have a friend in A and E and she's BEGGING people to FOLLOW THE RULES!
I don't know why it's hard?

Rupertpenrysmistress · 31/12/2020 22:07

Yes winter pressure always exist but we don't normally have a highly contagious virus causing so much staff absence. My trust has cancelled all elective work to focus on the high volume of covid patients streaming in on a daily basis. We need the outpatient and theatre staff to help staff the wards and ITU. We have never had a winter let me this.

Anotherpointofview1 · 31/12/2020 22:07

And the evidence of asymptotic spread is fuck all. So yes I hope all those people at the party do have a great time. Wine

Chamonixshoopshoop · 31/12/2020 22:08

@Anotherpointofview1 I care about the economy too- I run a business and my DH works in the airline industry, but we have a vaccine, the economy will recover. Right now we need to protect hospitals... what will happen if you, or one of your children gets meningitis and there's no bed for you? Sorry all full.

Hoggleludo · 31/12/2020 22:10

I volunteer at our local hospital.

It’s seriously on its knees. Drs are coming out crying. Grown men are sobbing when they’re having to tell mothers and fathers that their child has died. Or telling a child that there mother or fathers has died. Not once. But over and over. To different families. On top of being utterly exhausted that some are collapsing. Others are dying. People aren’t getting treatment if they are having heart attacks. Soon they say that they are going to have to make a choice to who lives or dies. Because there’s on,y a certain amount of ventilators. Which regardless of what you think of doctors and nurses. They all take an oath to try and keep people alive as long as they can. Yet here they are being told that soon they will be in such an omnipotent position. Not many of them want that. It isn’t their job to see chose who lives or dies.

I see this daily. I’ve seen a dr who begged people on his social media to stop going out. How bad it was getting. But people just seem to not care. He was seen as being hysteric.

But I’m sure your party which you deem as more important than any of the people I work with. Is way better than the 3000 or so drs and nurses I work with. Because that’s exactly what it is. You deem it more important. What happens if on your way home you have a car accident yet you die from not being able to be treated. Which at my hospital is very close to happening. Who is more important then?

When the doctors do inevitably have to make a choice about who gets the ventilator. Is it the nurse. Or doctor. Is it the lady who has stayed in. Or is it the one flouting the rules? What if it came down to this?

DdraigGoch · 31/12/2020 22:11

@Anotherpointofview1

Good I hope they have a fabulous time. I'm sure they are willing to do their best against a virus with a 99.98% survival rate.

Hoggleludo · 31/12/2020 22:13

@Anotherpointofview1

But surely you want those with cancer to get treatment?

percheron67 · 31/12/2020 22:15

Report them. We have thousands of new cases again today.

DartmoorChef · 31/12/2020 22:17

"They won't be socially distant if they're pissed. Plus it's not allowed"

We managed it in the summer.. We are in a cul de sac of 8 houses. All sat at the ends of our drives and managed not to cuddle up to random neighbours when we'd had a few drinks. I honestly do not have any problems with people doing this. It's probably less infectious than the supermarket.

whenwillthemadnessend · 31/12/2020 22:17

I'd report them today if they have done this before and totally taking the piss. That consultant was right to say they will have blood on there hands. Angry

JamieFrasersSassenach · 31/12/2020 22:19

Dm me your postcode OP and I will report them.

I'm so pissed off with the people in this country who cannot/will not see further than their own wants.

We need to buckle down and do whatever is necessary to protect our fellow human beings and our futures.

Report - not because of the Covid but because their party is spilling over to you. No one is entitled to impose their music, noise or presence onto other people.

JokeTheCoalman · 31/12/2020 22:20

We’re you counting the guests as they arrived or were you privy to the guest list?
