Neighbours having a gathering for 20 people tonight!

We live on a private drive tucked away with 5 houses. Our neighbours (very sociable, always breaking Covid rules) invited us neighbours out earlier for a socially distanced drink round a fire pit on his drive, spilling over to ours. Didn’t fancy it tbh. Glad I didn’t cause he’s obviously invited loads of his friends too! So fed up of this now! Selfish people making it worse for everyone else! I wouldn’t mind but he’s always moaning about covidiots on Facebook.

I truly think that some people don’t realise the seriousness of this virus until it smacks them - or their nearest and dearest - full in the face.
A friend of mine (underlying health condition, otherwise fit) was persuaded against his better judgment to visit family on Christmas Eve - now confirmed positive for the virus and scared half to death.
Look after yourself and your family OP. Let the partygoers fend for themselves.

Total bastards!, NHS worker here, under pressure but not as much as other trusts, they can fuck off and then fuck off some more, selfish twats!

Puppamumma · 31/12/2020 22:22

@DartmoorChef

"They won't be socially distant if they're pissed. Plus it's not allowed"

We managed it in the summer.. We are in a cul de sac of 8 houses. All sat at the ends of our drives and managed not to cuddle up to random neighbours when we'd had a few drinks. I honestly do not have any problems with people doing this. It's probably less infectious than the supermarket.

4 lots of neighbours did it for ve day all socially distant until about 2am when they were all hugging and dancing. People also need to stop complaining about the lack of treatment for other illnesses and realise that if people behaved the hospitals wouldn't be full of covid patients. I despair sometimes.
TheFairyCaravan · 31/12/2020 22:27

Absolute cunts. I’d report them and wouldn’t give a shit if they didn’t talk to me again.

DS2 and DDIL, both nurses, are on their knees. They’re knackered both physically and mentally. They can’t keep going like this but unless people, all people, start obeying the rules, nothing will change.

I must say its amazing that once challenged on their selfish shit, everybody has a sob story at the ready.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/12/2020 22:30

Wind 'em up and watch 'em go ...

Bloodypunkrockers · 31/12/2020 22:35

@Yoshinori

Good for them ! We’re having a party of around 20 people as well and I dare anyone to challenge. We know we don’t have covid.
If I knew you, you can't bet your area I'd report you
Thewiseoneincognito · 31/12/2020 22:37

@Yoshinori enjoy. karma always finds a way 😘

MoopN86 · 31/12/2020 22:38

I would 100% report them. Why should everyone suffer because of idiots like this!

roarfeckingroarr · 31/12/2020 22:39

@Anotherpointofview1

Good I hope they have a fabulous time. I'm sure they are willing to do their best against a virus with a 99.98% survival rate.
Well said
RainMoon · 31/12/2020 22:39

@Anotherpointofview1
20% long covid, could mean 20% of the population unable to work. Even if the death rate is as low as 1%, say you have 3 kids, all in a class of 30, nearly 100 kids. One of them will die, that is one too many, many of us know far more than 100 people, everyone would have someone affected.
Now it’s not covid, if you go to A&E with a heart attack, there isn’t the staff to treat you,
But you do you.

Pringlespop · 31/12/2020 22:40

This is why schools are closing, hospitals are chock a block, because of dicks that are not following the bloody rules. Ignorant people who think it won’t happen to them. If people aren’t following rules they should be exempt from being treated in an nhs hospital!!

user1471565182 · 31/12/2020 22:57

We have a serious, serious issue with selfish, thick as fuck people in this country.

I love my mum v much. At age 75 she has approx 1 in 12 chance of dying should she get Covid.

Death also not the only possibility, there is long CoVid, a big worry. Surveys so far suggest ages 30-50 most affected, then ages 20-29. 22 years of ME for me, triggered by a virus. Last 8 years bedridden, am severely affected, it’s incredibly tough. Periods of intense physical suffering. Isolated from much of life. There are fears some with long CoVid may follow similar trajectory/become chronic. Appears Long CoVid may have 3 subgroups, some recover after few months, some their symptoms may be from organ damage and third group have some similarities with ME. Note for this third group there are similarities and differences with ME, not identical.

Guylan · 31/12/2020 22:58

^ forgot to add above- Finally, some hospitals getting swamped, soon could be unable to treat both CoVid and non CoVid.

thosetalesofunexpected · 31/12/2020 23:00

Report Op please
101 Tel no

Sunnydayhere · 31/12/2020 23:04

So its 11 pm now.

What’s the state of the party? Did you call the police/have they turned up?

Not an easy decision especially as your a block of 5 houses - but on balance I’d probably have called.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 31/12/2020 23:05

@Yoshinori

What kind of NYE party starts at 9 pm ? You must be on the older side Grin

9 pm is very early for any sort of fun party to start.

Anyway, I’m going to mute this thread. Clearly some people enjoy leading a low quality of life and get mad when other people want to enjoy LIVING !

New year is at the same time for everyone. If you don't like your friends enough to spend 3 hours with them, that's your look out.

We do want to enjoy LIVING- that's kind of the point!!! A lifetime, not one night out!!

Tootletum · 31/12/2020 23:06

Yeah well it's the usual hypocrisy.
