To think it’s okay to take the kids b&m

Don’t like shopping myself or taking my kids shopping at the best of times so don’t really like taking them even more so now with covid.

Really need a few essentials. Bread, milk etc. This morning I came on my first period in 4 years and haven’t got any supplies (sorry tmi). Really can’t be assed with a supermarket, partner is at work until tonight, our village shop only takes cash and I have no cash. Not sure what’s open locally tomorrow.

Aibu to take the kids b&m? We’ve just gone into tier 3. Worried that’ll be frowned upon if I take dc in? All I’ve seen is people moaning that children and families are in shops etc.

They are pretty good really. Too young for masks but sanitise regularly and know how to social distance.

Can you tell I’ve barely been out during the pandemic ^^ and tend to get everything delivered!

@SchrodingersImmigrant

There is even a link in a thread for b&m stores... It's just. Woe

There is now, yes. There wasn’t on the first couple of pages I read. If you read the OP’s post again and you’re not sure what “take them b&m” means, you’ll see that it’s ambiguous.

Tbh I'm in tier 4 and I seen plenty of children in b&m last time I was there. Mostly toy shopping or spending Xmas money. I wouldn't give it a second thought in your position

@MotherExtraordinaire at 5 particularly, I think its border line whether masks would be beneficial - for adults that follow the rules about not touching them etc then they help, but small children cant help touching it/adjusting it which means it could cause more issues than solve. Plus, when an adult breathes their moist breath (uurgh) is coming out at everyone elses face level. A five year old is much lower down so their breath is less likely to reach other people anyway (tiny water droplets dont normally float up).

One adult can take their children for essentials and anybody with a negative opinion on it should stick it up their arse Smile

@MasterBeth

Obviously, it isn’t clear or I wouldn’t have asked.
To be fair if you don't know what B & M is it isn't obvious at all, the grammar the title and would make you think it's some kind of activity

And as someone else had to ask it's obviously not a national chain of shops.

Flinstones · 31/12/2020 18:20

Just go in the shops & take the children. I can't believe people on here are suggesting you leave them or go on a what's app group asking for someone else to do your shopping. Goodness me! Wear a mask social distance keep kids with you & I'm with OP wander down the booze isle & buy the kids a treat.

@MotherExtraordinaire I meant they don’t have to wear masks. My son has autism, there’s no way I would get one on him. Dd will wear one but she constantly fiddles with it which is kinda defeating the purpose...

Thanks all. DS won’t wear a mask. Even when he turns 11, I don’t think he will. He is autistic. I’ve tried getting one on him, he rips it off. Dd will wear one but fiddles with it which isn’t ideal touching her face all the time.

We did a quick trip to b&m this afternoon and a play in an empty park 🌸🌸

I'm glad you went Flowers And I hope you all enjoyed the park

yetanothernamitynamechange · 31/12/2020 18:32

@Star1402 ahh, then ot sounds like he has a genuine reason to be exempt anyway. My childs the same re CONSTANT fiddling

Whatwouldscullydo · 31/12/2020 19:07

Glad you managed to get there ajd get wht you need Smile

Just remember you don't need to explain anything to anyone. If he's exempt he's exempt. If staff ask politely you can tell them he's exempt. Anyone else can piss off.
