Hello :)
Our new downstair's neighbour (separate back garden, but share a shared fence) apparently keeps birds, various snakes and mice. I think he also keeps something else (spider? Insects? But I could be wrong about that one).
That's his choice and he seems nice enough. It does smell very mildly of zoo in our shared entrance and boot room so there's that.
But he recently said something about composting the waste and how excited he was about finally having a garden / gardening. The latter is obviously wonderful and I wouldn't want to destroy anyone's joy in regards to gardening... But I'm a bit worried about the former.
Is this safe? And if not, is it an issue if DS plays pretty much right next to it (separated by a fence, sure, but if it's windy etc...)? If our vegetables are planted right next to his garden that will presumably be fertilised by his (probably) absolutely giant composte heap?
He seems like a nice man. And I feel a bit silly because I'm usually really not particularly worried about these kinds of things. But those are exotic animals with a meat based diet (certainly the snakes. Not sure about the birds)... Is it safe to composte their waste and presumably also the organic cage/terrarium material? Or am I worried about nothing?
We are pet owners but haven't ever owned these kinds of animals....
Thank you in advance :)!!
