Why on earth did she ever go back to a horrible marriage to a man who throws food at her?

She should have stayed, worked in the bar, had her own life in the sunshine.

(Huge sigh)

Chips and egg is a Northern thing.

lockedownloretta · 03/01/2021 14:15

We don’t know what she does

The point is it will be her choice

I love the film

mymadpuppy · 03/01/2021 14:51

Its definitely egg and chips.

Quirrelsotherface · 03/01/2021 16:31

Chips and egg, without a doubt

"He kissed my stretch marks!"

I remember watching this at 6th form in 1990 (women's studies) we were taught by an amazing woman who said she felt that this film was underrated and that it was a film we would probably always remember.

She was right.

GrossePois · 03/01/2021 17:03

I like to think she stays. It’s a great film. Underrated.

AnyFucker · 03/01/2021 17:27

I watched this film and Who's eating Gilbert Grape this week.

Both excellent films

AnyFucker · 03/01/2021 17:27

Oh, and she stays.

annevonkleve · 03/01/2021 17:34

My mum is from Liverpool and I never heard her saying chips and egg, either, definitely the other way round.

user1471565182 · 03/01/2021 17:38

I talk about this quite a lot with my dad now, because hes reached an age at which we used to consider our next door neighbour an old man (60s). People did used to get older younger if that makes sense.

Egg and chips is rancid and is made more rancid by english people bleating on about it like children abroad.

pheonixrebirth · 03/01/2021 18:25

I think she sounded pretty resolute at the end. When she says I hope he stays Cos he could use a holiday- that says to me that her mind was made up that she was definitely not going back with him.

My ex once shoved his dinner plate at me like her husband did! Unfortunately I stayed another 10 years. But when I watched it the other day, the wave of relief that washed over me...........

I truly think every 15 year old girl should be made to watch this before they start dating- actually boys too!
