Tradesman drinking and smoking cannabis on the job

My landlord has hired a self employed tradesman to refurbish two of the rooms in our flat. He has done a fair bit of work here so we know him a little. Nice enough chap.

We took the children for a short walk earlier to get out of the house and when we arrived home he was smoking cannabis in the front porch.

DH also said (I didn't see this myself) that he also had a can of Guinness on the job.

Obviously it's extremely unprofessional but my main concern is the fact he's then going to drive his van when he leaves.

Would you say something/report?

Ive name changed btw, regular poster and I'm on here most days.

Talk to your landlord and say he will not be allowed back into the premises again.

I would tell him not to come back and tell your landlord he needs to find an alternative tradesman and why.

You can definately ask him to respect the fact you do not want him smoking or drinking whilst he is on your propperty. If it continues you can also contact the person who hired him. If you think he is drink driving you could contact the police but I would try my first suggestion first.

I would probably mention it to him first and ask him not to. It is unreasonable behaviour by him but I’d feel crap if someone lost their job over it (which I assume he would)
