I’m guessing most people will be in ... anyone planning anything special / different to help celebrate it at home?

Takeaway and living room campout with the DC. Films on airbeds until they fall asleep- we all want to see the back of 2020

AlrightTreacle · 27/12/2020 22:08

It'll be just me and DP staying in for the night.

I'm getting home from work at about 4pm, planning on having a bath and getting ready as though we were going out out. Think I will wear a dress that I bought in the sales last year for a winter wedding this year...not worn it yet. Will also attempt to curl my hair and put on winged eyeliner for first time in months.

Then the plan is to have some cocktails at 6ish, play monopoly and jenga, order an Indian, drink too much prosecco and probably be in bed well before midnight.

We're both off work on New Year's Day, planning on going for a walk with my family at a National Trust garden, hoping the weather will be dry! Then back home, beef roast dinner and yet another zoom quiz with DPs family.

grassisjeweled · 27/12/2020 22:11

Not much, thank god. I hate NYE

AvonCallingBarksdale · 27/12/2020 22:12

Ginogineli
Well I’ll happily be honest and say I’ll be having friends and their kids over - 4 families tier 3
Most people I know doing similar

Well done, you Hmm
Covidiots/Darwin donators etc etc.

Dahlietta · 27/12/2020 22:15

DS1 was sad that his grandparents couldn't come for Christmas so I told him he could stay up for the first time on NYE. Normally we don't bother, but we're planning on having a nice meal and playing some board games.

Fatladyslim · 27/12/2020 22:29

Going on a pub crawl around my house but instead of shots I will be sampling different types of the left over Christmas nibbles. Ending the night butt naked, cheese drunk and floating in the bath with an ice cold glass of appletizer.

CrackersDontMatter · 27/12/2020 22:32

I'll be at work (care home) but will take a bottle of something non-alcoholic so we can have a little toast.

nancy75 · 27/12/2020 22:37

DH runs a pub, so for the last 15 years I’ve stayed at home with Dd on NYE.
This year is the first time DH won’t be working but as we’re tier 4 everything is closed so I still won’t be going out!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 27/12/2020 22:41

Movie and the rest of the food I froze from Christmas.

thebear1 · 27/12/2020 22:41

In teir 3 and don't know anyone planning on mixing at new year. Will have party food and a film with the dc.

EasterIssland · 27/12/2020 22:43

@Ginogineli Enjoy your nye party because thanks to people like you we will be in lockdown in January. I hope you don’t come to the boards to complain that your job is at risk or your kids education or that you can’t have food in the restaurant you like because it had to close down.

And stay away from nhs. Nhs doesn’t need people like you.

StanfordPines · 27/12/2020 22:43

@StripyHorse

We never go out on NYE, kids are getting older so now want to stay up. So board games, snacks and a couple of drinks for us adults. I am working the next day, contact tracing and I expect we will be busy.
Now come along, everyone knows that contact tracers just sit around eating biscuits and watching Netflix, just like ICU staff. (If some on this thread are to be believed.
AgeLikeWine · 27/12/2020 22:45

At 11:59 pm we are all going to walk out into the street and scream ‘fuck off 2020!’ as loudly as possible. Grin

Lindy2 · 27/12/2020 22:47

Ginogineli well by 31st some of your group might be starting Covid symptoms from the Christmas mixing I assume you also did. Let's hope none of the children take the virus into school with them.

GlowingOrb · 27/12/2020 22:47

Same as most years, probably asleep by 10.

Alice190720 · 27/12/2020 22:49

@AgeLikeWine I like this idea

Wootothewho · 27/12/2020 22:52

@Ginogineli what a dick

FastFood · 27/12/2020 22:52

Huge rave all night with drugs and jaegger bombs.

No, not really, it's going to be a perfect night in my PJs, with my old farty dog, a book and some herbal tea and I'll probably be asleep by 11.

Figmentofimagination · 27/12/2020 22:53

Having a normal tea, putting toddler DS to bed at normal time and then vegging in front of the tv with DH. Praying to god next door won't be dicks and break rules by having a party (like they have had for the previous 4 Christmas' - no one needs to hear grease karaoke at 4am).
Then the next day it's Buffett of party food (mini burgers, mini hot dogs, spring rolls).

SoMuchToBits · 27/12/2020 22:55

I'm working NYE from 7 am until 7.30 pm (NHS hospital ward). I will then come home, have a shower and enjoy a meal which my ds (aged 20) will cook. Then have a drink or two with him and go out of the front door to say happy new year to the neighbours (socially distanced) and watch fireworks.

Fortunately I have New Year's Day off this year.

For all those mixing with loads of people on NYE - please don't! I have already worked Christmas Day on a ward where we are stretched for staff, all the patients have Covid, one of them died on Christmas Day and several others were unwell. Tomorrow will be similarly stressful. Please just do what you can within your local guidelines.

frankie001 · 27/12/2020 22:56

I’m not celebrating this year, will get celebrating my positive isolation coming to an end though! May have an ameretto and party food that’s in the freezer.

Benjispruce2 · 27/12/2020 23:01

Well @Ginogineli aren’t you clever!

EternalOptimist7 · 27/12/2020 23:05

Bringing the bunnies inside cos of stupid fireworks. Steak dinner ( DD12 keeps saying she’s veggie but has recently eaten sausages, bacon & turkey so I reckon she’ll join us!). I had a lovely bottle of fizz on Christmas Day & have a 2nd for NYE. Will probably watch Love Actually as it’s become a tradition.

TheSoapyFrog · 27/12/2020 23:07

Just a night in. I would like a bottle of fizz and a seafood platter from the local fishmonger but the OH just wants to treat it as an ordinary night.
