To ask if anyone has done one of those "digital mums" courses and if they are worth the money?

Thinking about doing one on social media marketing for professional reasons: this is sort of adjacent to but not directly related to what I do. I've been thinking of doing this as part of generally keeping up to date but also to give myself another string to the bow as have a career change on the medium to long-term horizon.

The "digital mums" courses, slightly cringy branding aside, look quite comprehensive and reasonably affordable and are done to allow them to be fitted around working parents' schedules so seem attractive but just curious to know if anyone has tried them and if they have actually helped?

I sort of work in digital marketing and I'd avoid to be honest. For starters, the name 'digital mums' is going to look kind of cringe on your portfolio. It sounds like they train you up for a basic social media role, and maybe give you a couple of contacts, but ultimately you'd then be in the very competitive freelancing market, up against marketing graduates and people who've worked for big companies. It's oversaturated. I can tell you now, freelancing rates for this kind of work are shit, plus you have the hassles that come with being self-employed.

Better be careful though. Digital Mums love googling their name, so they'll no doubt turn up soon to blah blah about how well they are doing!

If you want to learn a new skill, SEO is probably better. I've worked with a few companies who have struggled to find SEO experts and the pay is much better.

I just googled it out of curiosity. £2k!? Doesn't sound worth it at all tbh.
