If you have converted the cupboard under the stairs into a W.C.

I have an airing cupboard upstairs that no longer has a water tank in it. So it lives in there. But I'm quite lucky with this house, it has built in wardrobes in every room that hoovers could go in.

MyNameForToday1980 · 27/12/2020 09:25

We have a larder coming off our kitchen which goes under some outside stairs.

Though often it can be found menacing us from the corner of a room that needs hoovering.

FourEyesGood · 27/12/2020 09:26

You do understand that different houses have different storage, right? Our house is tiny, with no ‘cupboard under the stairs’, so the vacuum cleaner sits on the landing, getting in the way. And there are people who live in flats, but they still have a vacuum cleaner. There are also people with huge houses who can keep their stuff in utility rooms and spare rooms and the like.

At the top of the steps to the cellar.

A cupboard under the stairs? Oh, the giddy heights. I live in a first floor flat. Vacuum cleaner resides in the bedroom, and there it is likely to remain. Grin

In one of the hall cupboards. I have no stairs.

We live in a flat so it sits behind the lounge door.

Its predecessor was slim enough to fit in the airing cupboard but for all it offered in sleek design it lacked the basic ability to suck up dust and fluff so it had to go.

Oh to have a cupboard under the stairs. The DREAM.

FTM91 · 27/12/2020 09:34

We have a the shark that folds in half, so it just lives in a cupboard in the kitchen. I love it and highly recommend if you're tight on space!

AriesTheRam · 27/12/2020 09:34

I have a cordless Dyson in its holder on the hallway wall

Iwantmorechocolate · 27/12/2020 09:38

I like ours plugged in and ready to go in the kitchen. Then I’m more likely to use it.

Daisydrum · 27/12/2020 09:38

@FTM91 and @AriesTheRam Thank you, these are great ideas!
We have no other cupboards that could fit it, other than building one but unless it went in the living room no space for that either.

The utility room - but we have a dyson stick vacuum so it's easily stored.

ElizaLaLa · 27/12/2020 11:20

The garage.

FuzzyPuffling · 27/12/2020 11:22

In the garage. (It's not a garage, it's a store room for everything that has no other home as this house was built with totally insufficient storage)

Daisydrum · 27/12/2020 18:01

Thank you

I don't know...hang on [trots off].

It's apparently under the kitchen table, according to DP. Where the tools are that clip onboard in normal people's homes , I have even less idea.

Makes a change from laying in wait for a trip to the toilet at midnight.

speakout · 27/12/2020 18:09

Garage.

OnceUponAnEnzyme · 27/12/2020 18:13

Places my hoover has been kept:

Flat: outside the front door, on the landing (I lived at the top so only shared the landing with 1 other flat and this bit of the landing was not in their route to their flat)

House 1: in a cupboard in the bathroom; it was an old house and there was no downstairs storage at all.

House 2: in the guest bedroom; I just moved it out when I had people over (I stashed it under my bed)

House 3: the cupboard under the stairs

House 4: we now have 3 vacuums. One is hung on the wall of the coat cupboard downstairs, one is a roomba so lives on the floor of the kitchen and one is kept in the airing cupboard upstairs.

Parker231 · 27/12/2020 18:17

Have roomba - it never gets put away

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 27/12/2020 18:18

In my bedroom

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 27/12/2020 18:18

With all the other junk!

EileenGC · 27/12/2020 18:19

I live in a flat. It lives next to one of the kitchen cupboards (floor to ceiling), together with the mop and bucket, bins, recycling bags... We briefly considered putting it in the bathroom as there's lots of unused floor space there, but it's handier having it in the kitchen. That's where it gets used 90% of the time.

CoffeeRunner · 27/12/2020 18:25

Mine’s at the top of the stairs. We have a big square step at the top so room for it.

We do have a cupboard under the stairs but it’s small & utterly full of coats, shoes & bags.

Fairydustrust · 27/12/2020 18:26

I recently got a huge plastic outdoor storage waterproof cupboard for this reason. Mop and bucket, vacuum, cloths etc all out of sight now.
