Worried about my baby - he’s so agitated

My baby has been having tantrums all day. He’s 8 and a half months. I say tantrums because it’s not like a cry where he’s in pain, it just sounds like he’s really annoyed.

He has no fever, he is eating, he still laughs, he’s been playing, he has wet nappies and normal poo. He is alert and responsive.

But he’s not been sleeping or napping properly and I know he’s teething quite badly. He’s currently chewing on his teething blanket and he’s just had some milk. His cheeks do look quite flushed. He’s had calpol.

I know none of you are doctors, but I’m not at the point where I’m medically concerned, so I was wondering whether anyone else has been through this, and whether it’s normal for teething? Thank you

Got any baby nurofen in?

crapmumalertttttttt · 26/12/2020 18:44

I think so yes — @DressingGownofDoom can he have that and calpol as he’s already had the calpol?

Try ibuprofen as well if poss. Can be better for teething as it’s anti-inflammatory.

Thank you. Will definitely try this and see how he goes

Sounds like normal, miserable teething to me.

But as his mother you know him the best and don’t ignore any instinct that something is not right.

Yes, NHS says fine to try the other if the first painkiller hasn’t worked.

I found Theetha powder really helped mine when like this.

Does he have a temperature?

I found that popping a small child in a pram and stropping around a few roads for 20 mins used to help me. The temperature change returning home used to flake DD out.

Good luck! Babies don't understand Christmas.
