To be so proud of DDs behaviour the past few days?

Sorry to be gushy but my 2.5yo DD is currently curled up sleeping in my arms and I’m so proud of how well she’s handled the last few days when Christmas can be so overwhelming! We went to church last night and she sat wonderfully for 45 minutes and put baby Jesus in the manger at the end. We’ve had no tantrums, she’s done everything she’s been told, said please and thank you, tidied up wrapping paper and put her plate away and generally been a charming delight. Last Christmas she wasn’t sleeping and nearly broke me so this has been a wonderful surprise!

If anyone else would like to ramble about how wonderful their children are then feel free :)

Oh I agree; my almost three year old daughter has been a delight all day. Kept walking around saying beautiful lovely day and I’m so happy!

Been a wonderfully calm day

ScrapThatThen · 25/12/2020 20:33

That's sweet, she's clearly a good un. My 17yo joined in the family zooms, and is always such good company. My 15yo thanked me really sweetly and genuinely for her presents even though her main one didn't arrive yet and before I told her her bank account had also had a boost.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 25/12/2020 20:35

That is lovely bless her! Mine have made me proud today as well. Enjoy it.

Wherediditgo · 25/12/2020 20:38

YANBU that’s lovely.

3 year old DS has been the same today. He’s had a great day and I’m proud of him.

Serenschintte · 25/12/2020 20:44

My 16 year old just told me he’s had a lovely day! And hugged me. I nearly cried. And has had to sit through multiple quite dull (for him) family zoom calls.

wendz86 · 25/12/2020 20:46

My two have been really grateful for their presents. They also told me it was the best Christmas ever.

ShinyGreenElephant · 25/12/2020 20:53

I've been worried sick that DSD was going to be sulky and ungrateful about her presents (she is every year even when we get what she wants and this year all she wanted was vbucks which DH wouldn't get). She was actually absolutely fine about it, we got a half hearted thanks, shes played with stuff other than her phone and hasn't sulked or tantrummed once the entire day! Immeasurable improvement on last Christmas and honestly made my day.

KnitFastDieWarm · 25/12/2020 20:53

my five year old has been an utter delight today. his excitement has made it magical Xmas Smile

Sindragosan · 25/12/2020 20:55

The oldest said this is the best Christmas ever, the youngest was mostly fine but had a tantrum when we told him he had an airplane not a helicopter toy. They're all asleep now so its fine.

IndecentFeminist · 25/12/2020 21:00

Mine have been delights tbh. 10nyr old nearly cried at one of her presents (not extravagant ones) and despite the onset of teen 'attitude' she's been lovely.

8 yr old is the easiest going, happiest little chap.

3 year old is a human wrecking ball but happy and funny and totally adored.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 25/12/2020 21:05

Aw.. That's lovely. My two dc have spent a large chunk of their day putting older GPS first and helping out without being asked, in the simplest but most heartwarming of ways. They're not angels by a long shot but the kindness and thoughtfulness today made my heart swell. They deserved every treat and present they got.

ChazP · 25/12/2020 21:16

I warned my 12 yr old last night that her 6 yr old brother was getting a particularly big present from his grandparents and let her know what it was. Her face lit up. She was SO excited for him, that most of this morning she was asking when he could open it.

So proud that she has such joy in seeing other people receiving things.

Jackblackcat · 25/12/2020 21:17

YANBU you should be so proud!

My DS(4) has been an angel all week. We isolated for a few days (til we got a negative result), but he has been delightful. He took four hours to open his presents because he was playing with each one straight after unwrapping which was lovely. Hes been a bit less perfect at bedtime but cant blame him for that after a day full of sugar!

LeeHarper5 · 25/12/2020 21:17

I lost my DH to cancer in August so this was the first Christmas my 6yr old and I have had without him.
My little boy has been an absolute star this year but today he truly shone. He said thank you for all his gifts then said ‘I really am such a lucky boy.’ Everything he’s endured this year, the huge loss he’s suffered... and he still considers himself to be lucky. My heart just bursts with pride.

whereismydonkey · 25/12/2020 21:17

Ha my usually lovely, polite, well behaved 7 year old daughter has turned into a demon today. First time I've had to raise my voice and take a time out for myself in months. She's been awake since 4 am and it has been overwhelming so I'm blaming the stroppiness on that.

DollyMixtureLulus · 25/12/2020 21:20

This is lovely to read 🥰

Dreamylemon · 25/12/2020 21:29

My 6 and 3yo have been a delight today and are normally really hard work at Christmas.

They woke up at a civilised time and have just been gorgeous all day. Grateful for thier presents, playing nicely, lovely manners.

It makes me realise how stressful seeing family is!! It's a bloody nightmare when we visit their GPs as they are all out of routine and play up. I feel bad saying that though.

TaraR2020 · 25/12/2020 21:34

@LeeHarper5 I'm so glad you've had such a lovely day but my heart truly goes out to you for your loss. Your son sounds truly delightful and I'm not surprised you're so proud of him Flowers

CantBeAssed · 25/12/2020 21:41

@LeeHarper5 so glad you and your ds had a lovely, he sounds a little darlingSmile

porcelinaofthevastoceanss · 25/12/2020 21:42

Almost 3 year old has been a total delight, but then he always is. He’s just a brilliant little boy. I feel like I never get to say that about him because mums that I know will consider it boastful but he really is.

CantBeAssed · 25/12/2020 21:43

My teenager is presently watching a christmas movie with me, cant remember last time we sat in the same room any length of time, ds3 was a little overwelmed today but overall he was well behaved and now out for the countWink

ZadieZadie · 25/12/2020 21:45

My nearly one year old coped with a weird routine, strange food and lots of newness. Love her 💕

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 25/12/2020 21:47

My 3 year old managed to wait for about 5 hours before breaking her christmas present, that's a record for her. I wouldn't say I'm proud but I'm less embarrassed / pissed off than usual so I'm counting that as a win

RachelRosie · 25/12/2020 21:48

Lovely thread. My 3yo DD has been a delight too. Went to bed so well last night! Woke up singing and has just been magic all day. She was a uncharacteristically tricky last week so was a nice she's back to normal ! She's been the joy in an grotty year.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 25/12/2020 21:52

My DD is always wonderful. Well, 98% of the time..
