Aibu to say my back can fuck off

Back has been playing up for about a week.

Decided to go last night and I’m currently lying here in agony waiting for painkillers to kick in.

My back can fuck off, right? Not today back. Today is not the day.

Yes. Your back is being very naughty. You've probably been hunched over wrapping gifts and lifting moving things..
I hope the painkillers kick in and maybe this is the year or excuse this one year that you have to get others to help with Christmas dinner whilst you lay on sofa and take ibuprofen all day. Have a hot bubble Bath if you can, get a heat pack on your back on and off through the day and take it as easy as you are able to.

Mdmd · 25/12/2020 07:13

Heat pack is a good idea. I have a heated throw I’ll fold up.

It’s only me and two young adult children so I can supervise and they can cook (god help us).

Thanks for the sympathy.

Sometimes people Enjoy "rallying to help"! Have you another adult that can take over?

This might be the year that
Is remembered as the Xmas mum hurt her back so DCs and DP had to cook Xmas dinner- just be relaxed, don't make it stressy, and don't mind with your instructions and patience even if it "doesn't go right"! I promise It'll be a funny memory once memory of pain subsides! I hurt my back and had one such Xmas ...

Oh cross posted OP. Perfect!!! So your two adult DC will rise to the challenge - it's a rare treat to be in charge of Xmas day and to achieve something as important as cooking Xmas dinner for their lovely Mum (or dad if you are a dad!) - even if it doesn't go right- keep saying "you got this!" "Don't stress, you'll be brilliant.. Thankyou my lovely DC!" "It doesn't matter, we will enjoy it anyway!"

The year I speak of, Xmas lunch was at 7pm (!!) as timings were completely off, veg had to be microwaved hot again, very crispy roast potatoes, slightly lumpy n watery gravy, Yorkshire puddings n pigs in blankets were forgotten & the latter left in fridge, and none of us minded one bit! It was toast and cheese n biscuits to keep us going from 2pm til the bloody joints were eventually cooked!! GrinGrin my DCs still talk about it as the Xmas grandad and they made Xmas dinner 🥰🤣

I hope you have a more comfortable rest of day than it has started as!

😁 thanks.

Inconveniently the adult dc who is a good cook couldn’t get here so I’m stuck with Penny queen of Frozen Pizza and take away Trevor.

😁

Ah well lol

Lol!

I'm sure they will make the effort today for you.

They don't need a cooking degree to peel some veg and put things in the oven and they have you to give them instructions. Tell them you need them today and you appreciate them. Let them rise to the challenge!! Write out instructions if you can ..!

YANBU, WTAF back?? Read the room, you dick!

Sorry op. Good luck with the meal! Supervising and eating Xmas Wink.

My back went a week or two ago. It took a good week or so, but it's back to normal now.
