Hahaha "hurtling" is just a strong word and I associate it with sentences like "hurtling towards death", people never seem to hurtle towards nice things. They hurtled towards their all inclusive holiday... nope

Not offended just "omw shes right" Shock

Just 50 here

When I started fantasising about a Teasmade

When I look forward to getting into bed before 10pm with a 🐈 and a cup of tea

When going out - non-Covid times - on NYE is my idea of hell

When more than one glass of wine gives me a hangover

When I spend half my life looking for my reading glasses

When I call my DCs the names of my siblings

When I can't wait for the daffodils to come up in spring

Plenty more....

3kidsareenough · 27/12/2020 10:04

The diagnosis of arthritis in my hands a few weeks back (which is greatly affected by the weather, which means I now means I have an "older persons" interest in the weather forecastConfused) as a previous poster stated 41-43 l!!

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 27/12/2020 10:05

BUT I actually feel more energetic than I did in my late 30s - benefit of having teens who don't wake me up at 5am

Chimeraforce · 27/12/2020 10:06

In my 30s when everyone addressed me as "mum" 😔 and shop workers called me madam.

Cam2020 · 27/12/2020 10:09

When I stopped drinking alcohol without realising, because the night was never fun enough to justify the near death hangover.
Oh yes, definitely this!

Crows feet
Grey hair
Sports injuries taking an age to recover (or never)
Feeling tired adn having less energy - I need my 7 hours now.
Facebook memories popping up from the previous decade.

ThatDamnKrampus · 27/12/2020 10:11

@CherryCherries

I asked my mother this who has just turned 70. She said "you don't get old, you can just think yourself old.."

My mother refuses to have a short "pensioners" haircut and said she will always still be wearing her Van's trainers..

I like the sound of your mum! I have to agree my husband is old in his head but not what I consider old (he is 52) and often says he is too old to do stuff and it frustrates the hell out of me.
FazeleysRoyale · 27/12/2020 10:12

I told DS (he's 22) that sometimes I fall asleep with my finger on the screen of my tablet, wake up and it's highlighted a word with the suggestions "look up, copy" etc., and said isn't it lucky I wasn't online shopping on one click ordering.

DS laughed, then said " that's such an old person thing to do". But he said it in a nice way.

HazeyJaneII · 27/12/2020 10:15

I'm 51 and to be honest until this year I didn't feel old old...even though I have grey hair and I'm much older than the mum's of ds's classmates (and have been called his gran several times!)

This year the effects of Covid (stopping work, shielding ds, lengthy remote learning, worry over house and EHCP dramas) and my mum dying suddenly have hit me like a bullet train. I am really aware of how old I feel and how worn out I look.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 27/12/2020 10:17

When I could no longer tolerate radio 1.

madcatladyforever · 27/12/2020 10:17

When I hit the menopause, that was the defining line between youth and old age and my appearance really changed then.

HazeyJaneII · 27/12/2020 10:20

Yes...I am in peri menopause (what a fucking year) and it really feels like up until now, aging has been a gradual slope....this year it's like falling off a cliff.

I don't wake up and see my mother looking back at me...I wake up and see my grandad looking back at me.

Its a peach

How old are you? I’m always intrigued about peri. I’m 46 so I know I’m in it, but these dreadful feelings aren’t something I can relate to yet.
THisbackwithavengeance · 27/12/2020 10:36

About a year ago when I hit 49.

I enjoy being "old" though. I like making a fuss if things aren't right and just generally not giving a shit. I even like being invisible and walking round like a bag lady, no make up, comfortable clothes, tied back hair. I don't even care enough now to dye my hair to cover the grey. I dont want or seek male attention or peer approval like I used to.

My DS calls me a Karen and I actually don't give a fuck about that either.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/12/2020 10:40

I have to say I don’t mind getting older either 🤭. I’m quite looking forward to the day my periods stop and I can get away with saying outrageous things. I don’t necessarily like looking older but actually being older is rather freeing.

PaperMonster · 27/12/2020 10:52

This year. I’m 51 and I’m fit and healthy but am now Diabetic with a joint problem!!

Dannydevitoiloveyourart · 27/12/2020 10:57

When I say things like “music was so much better in our days”! I’m only 31 but all popular music sounds the same to me now haha. I always try to stop myself when I realise I’m saying it because I remember my parents saying the same thing when I was young- and I remember thinking how old and out of touch they were!

Spiratedaway · 27/12/2020 11:02

I a 47 and still feel 27 but don't look it !!! Eyesight going , back going I am going to have a facelift for my 50th a concept one I hate getting old !

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 27/12/2020 11:08

When the doctor at the hospital a couple of weeks ago was 12.

Also when I nearly reported the bus driver to the police for stealing the bus - because he was 12 too Grin

Booksandwine80 · 27/12/2020 11:26

I’m 40 and actually thought this morning I’d like a pair of walking boots Blush

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 27/12/2020 12:01

In 2006. I was 25. At a university choir practice and Taverners little lamb was passed around.
Fresher - ooh this looks a bit hard.
Me - youll know it when you hear it. It was sung at Princess Di's funeral.
Fresher - I dont remember Princess Di's funeral.
Confused

Also when Im at jump and bouncing to some 90s remix I look around the room and think none of you were even born when this song came out. Im only 39!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 27/12/2020 12:04

Oh and this year I have discovered the joy that is jigsaw puzzles.

And the other night I needed something gentle on the tv so asked dh to find an episode of Barnaby.

MrsHugsxx · 27/12/2020 12:50

The tv programmes I watched as a young child such as Button Moon and Play Days now look ancient when I watch them on YouTube. I'm 33, I don't feel old, really but I think I felt " young" for a long time and now my age has just suddenly hit me. I've got a few greys and my eldest DC is almost a teenager, which makes you realize.

SakiSiam · 27/12/2020 19:20

@1morewineplease > 'When I sneezed/coughed and farted at the same time.' :-) My dog does this, but without the coughing (and sometimes the sneezing).
