to think this attitude is is odd to day the least?

DH is working renovating a manor house near Bath at the moment. Yesterday that owner was walking round the house with the interior designer discussing what she was going to do. She was overheard to tell him that she would be bringing in her own workpeople as 'these oiks' (ie DH and the rest of the workman) wouldn't be up to the job?.

Am I unreasonable in thinking that:

a. The attitude that places someone who can slap paint about inside a house on a higher plane to someone who can actually build a house is breathtakingly stupid.

b. DH should have let down the tyres on her Porsche?

I just think it's interesting - and I'm not having a go - that there is the immediate "how does that rich cow think she is" reaction.

I'll take it that he meant I wasn't snooty and affected. I do have a bit of a northern accent anyway, so wasn't in the least offended.

He asked if he could eat his lunch in the kitchen with me, so I can't have been to unbearable, I suppose.

Owner is by and large OK. Apart from being richer than is healthy for anyone in their early 20's....

ah, that puts a whole different slant on things then. I rather think that the interior designer has to have that sort of attitude, how else will she feed her thoughts of self importance, she probabaly did one of those "be an interior designer " courses in the back of homes and garden magazine, whereas our builder DP/DHs had to do apprenticeships, real qualification and actually have talent to do their jobs. If i were the home owner in that situation i would have marched her straight off the property because she is demonstrating that she thinks the home owner is an idiot for employing oiks, but really she is just another oik paid to do a job in a house she could only dream about living in.

The post did read like it was the home owner with that attitude though.

I didn't read it properly, i really thought you meant the owner.... well he will have to let her tyres down then!
