Friend claiming to be key worker

So my friend and her husband work but aren't key workers. Here in Scotland after Christmas nurseries and schools closed unless key workers.
She says she's been told she can still send child to nursery so the nursery is lying for her and claiming she's a key worker to get place. It's a council nursery.
AIBU to be annoyed my child can't get a place. My husband is a key worker but I'm not but wfh full time with a toddler and my nursery say no place! Obviously I'm just jealous but it's so unfair some can play the system like this

Should have added its admin for a charity organisation that's been so busy through all of this helping everyone not starve and be homeless.

@lockdownrules

Banking and admin roles. Not key workers.
Admin where though? If it’s NHS would this not be classed as a key worker?

"What on earth do they do during the 6 week holidays? I've often wondered what people do with their kids during the holidays. Surely they don't have to go to a nursery every day for the whole year? Makes you wonder why they have them really."

They juggle it between summer clubs, family and annual leave. Summer clubs didn't run during the lockdowns, family couldn't have them if they were vulnerable and people don't have an endless supply of annual leave so what else were they supposed to do? Oh yes, let's not have children just in case we face a pandemic and have to use our unlimited supply of annual leave!

@catx1606 its like if they closed all food shops and people complained and someone said "why are people so upset that tesco's is closed? What do people do in normal times if they didnt live near a tesco?"

But yes, those terrible -mothers- parents with their full time jobs. Not like me, I LOVE my children Halo

@Yellow85 that would explain it, if local authorities can choose their own criteria - know they did in the first lockdown too.

I don't work from home so hopefully will get accepted. Not heard anything back yet - it's a nightmare not knowing whether I've got childcare or not ☹️

If I’m totally honest I’m ok. Our kids school didn’t have enough kids so they were sent to another one last time. If rather muddle through and work nights if he’s just going to be chucked in with strangers. Also don’t think they did much ‘teaching’ so I don’t think he’ll miss out. I found school work at 8/9am, done by half 10, then I worked the rest of the day whilst they played around me. Not ideal but survival lol

tigger1001 · 29/12/2020 16:35

@Yellow85 that sounds like a plan. Survival is all we can aim for.

January is my busiest time at work. I honestly don't know how I will get through my work and worry about homeschooling.

Yellow85 · 29/12/2020 16:38

@tigger1001im the exact same, luckily I can switch my hours to do an American day as most of my work is overseas. Means lots of late night and no evening playtime with the kids but needs must
