In the regular fridge where people kept their food? Or did your workplace produce another fridge.

I have an AIBU? But I don't know if I have the balls to say it.
I feel like I need to scope out what other women have done first.

I'm not a troll, just a recent name changer. I don't need lactation details, just storage.

In the normal fridge. But I’m a cool bag so people don’t have to know what it is. With a post it saying it’s yours and medical supplies and to inform you if the fridge stops working.

LouiseTrees · 21/12/2020 17:08

In a cool bag even. I am clearly a woman not a cool bag!

CMOTDibbler · 21/12/2020 17:09

In a black opaque wash bag (so it chilled quickly, unlike in an insulated cool bag) in the normal fridge.

Simarilion · 21/12/2020 17:12

I was put off expressing at work by this- would have probably had to write a standard operating procedure to be allowed to put human milk in a tiny communal fridge, & I just couldn't face the hassle (very rigid NHS health & safety person at work), plus working across multiple sites.

JassyRadlett · 21/12/2020 17:15

I did the same as @LouiseTrees - there was no separate fridge so this was the policy at both orgs I worked at when expressing at work.

PlanDeRaccordement · 21/12/2020 17:17

In a cool bag that I placed in communal fridge. No one minded.

gwenneh · 21/12/2020 17:19

In a cool bag in the normal fridge.

DuggeeHugs · 21/12/2020 17:21

Work had a separate lockable medical room, including fridge, where you could go to express in comfort and then store the milk.

NoMansAnIsland · 21/12/2020 17:21

I keep mine in the normal fridge well away from anyone's food on a separate shelf.

I woke with a small amount of women who are all nurses.
Tomorrow is my last day.

Today I went to get my milk and someone had dumped it in the bin.

I feel like they were trying to get a message across.
But why today?

I haven't been in for a few days and I didn't put the milk until past 2pm, so they couldn't have mistakingly thought it had been there for days.
It had been there for 1.5 hours.

In the kitchen fridge in a baby bottle - thought it was safer to make it obvious what it was so it didn't end up in someone's tea! It was only for a couple of weeks both times though, I did KIT days when dc were around 4mo.

Sorry yes mines was similar not insulated.
wineandroses1 · 21/12/2020 19:59

Worked for a big London bank. They provided comfy cubicles for expressing and Fridges with separate compartments for each nursing mum. It was fab but required a lot of lobbying to get it set up.

Haggisfish · 21/12/2020 20:00

In the communal fridge.

Ponoka7 · 21/12/2020 20:07

You should have asked them directly. You're leaving so you've got nothing to lose.

Belindabelle · 21/12/2020 20:07

My work provided a room with comfy chairs, a water cooler and a fridge.

Pinktornado · 21/12/2020 20:09

In a cool bag with ice pack (you can buy special medela ones). Our work fridge is pretty yucky so didn’t want to use it.

Irre247 · 21/12/2020 20:13

Cool bag with ice packs in, still fridge cold when I get home.

Waveysnail · 21/12/2020 20:19

Did you not have it in a container/box with label with your name on it? Just chucking in bottle breast milk on shelf would be a bit grim.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 21/12/2020 20:20

We had a small nursing room and fridge at my work. What nasty people at your work OP, nurses too so it's not like they can say they didn't know what they were binning. Shock

Mumtoalittlegirl · 21/12/2020 20:28

Surely it’s weirder that people keep cows milk in the fridge!

A little cool bag with some ice packs will do. Smile

Xenia · 21/12/2020 20:30

I took an insulated freezer bag with ice pack in it and put the ice pack in the freezer at home each night. I expect people these days use the work fridge or buy a little one for their office however.

Mumtoalittlegirl · 21/12/2020 20:31

Oh my god just read your update!! I’d be raging and straight to the manager. Breastmilk is so valuable it can take ages to express anything! Really fucking rude and weird that they’d throw it out. SadFlowers

Suzi888 · 21/12/2020 20:31

There was another fridge in the nursing room.

powershowerforanhour · 21/12/2020 20:33

In the normal work fridge in an opaque plastic bag sort of shoved near the back of the bottom shelf.

Respectabitch · 21/12/2020 20:33

I used a small coolbag in the main fridge. Or I popped the milkbag directly in the freezer if I was freezing it.
