Isolation clock - when does it stop?

Can you help settle this for me. If you have to isolate for 10 days is day 1 the day of contact so isolation finishes on day 10.

Or do you isolate for 10 full days after day of contact so end at end of day 11.

So if you came into contact on 1st of month does isolation end at end on day 10 or end of day 11?

Thank you. DH and I can’t agree and can’t find answer online.

I don't know, OP, but if it's important then err on the side of caution.

as far as i understand it day 1 is the day of contact and you count ten days remembering that your day 10 is the whole day, so if your isolation ends on say on Wednesday its ends at 11.59pm on Wed night. Am in it at the mo so know the feeling

Here's a link that may explain faq.covid19.nhs.uk/article/KA-01144/en-us

Sorry to hear that welldonesquirrel

So that seems pretty conclusive I didn’t find that bit. So test it says 10 full days so if contact on 1st isolate up to and including 11th.

Oh well it’s only one more day.

Day 0 is the last day of contact with the positive case, so isolation ends at the end of day 11.

Yes my DS school isolation ends at 3pm so it's the time that counts as well!

Test and trace told me it was from the first day of symptoms, so in effect, a few days before testing positive. So confusing, as some say from first day of contact, which can be a big difference. I suppose it depends if you are isolating after a positive test, or isolating just in case but not had a test. I'm actually still isolating weeks later because I still have symptoms and am worried I could still be shedding virus, no matter how much research I do, the answers vary. Test and trace went a bit off script when I asked them and he said “well it must have been nice to kick back and relax for ten days” implying that I just wanted more time off. There was no kick back and relaxing with this sodding virus, cheeky thing.

My letter said the last day of contact was day 0. I need to isolate for 10 days after that. Today is day 5 for me.

Tested positive on the 15th (got the result a few days later but they count from the date of the test). Get out on the 25th. I thought it would be 26th but T&T confirmed 25th.
