When I moved in to my upstairs rented flat in August it was an absolute mess. The walls and doors were covered in holes and the carpets badly stained and loads of other things. It was so unhygienic even the initial report by the letting agent stated the condition of mostly everything was poor. But .. I was desperate and have a 2 year old so I moved in and since then I have worked so hard decorating and getting everything clean and now it's really nice and you wouldn't think it had been the way it was at first. Theres a big problem though. The ceiling in my living room is cracked. It was like this when I moved in but at that point it wasn't leaking water through when it rained. For the past 7/8 weeks it keeps leaking water through continuously. Its content drips and as you know it rains every other day at this time of year quite heavily. I reported this 8 weeks ago exactly to the letting agent and they contacted the landlord. I was told a few days later a roofer would come out to have a look. About a week or so later the roofer came and said part of the roof had collapsed and that's what was causing it and he would get quotes done and get back to the landlord. I've phoned the letting agents numerous times since then and written to them and I'm getting ignored. One of the times I got a hold of them and they said they would contact the roofer again and be in touch but they haven't. I'm now still sitting 8 weeks later with a bucket in my living room to catch the water and as you can imagine its such an inconvenience and a nightmare to keep my toddler away from it. We are now going to be sitting over Christmas like this. AIBU to make a lengthy complaint about this? I'm usually quite reasonable but I think this is far to long? What would you do? Any advice would be appreciated

Speak to shelter. This isn’t on

Also the crack is getting bigger and theres a big damp patch on the ceiling which is turning black. I'm scared that part of the ceiling will cave in and I've also told the letting agents this.
