Parents of children/adults in care homes

Hello, just wondered what parents of children/young adults with disabilities who are in care home/supported living facilities are doing over Christmas. We went into tier 4 yesterday and now sadly my son cannot come home for Xmas. The home have suggested he come for the day instead but are not able to help get him home. I shall get him home somehow even if I pay a fortune in taxis (not something I can actually afford but I’ll find a way). Just wondered what others were doing really.

We have just picked him up and brought him home. It's not prison. Home just asked when we d bring him back so they know for staffing.

Generally from march they ve said no against rules and we ve said not happening then they ve gone ok.

He has lots tons of weight - critically thin we need him home to fill him up

Hi @The3Ls thanks for your response. My son has capacity and like you pointed out it’s not prison. I hope you get him sorted out and have a peaceful Christmas xx
I’ve emailed his Sw today so hoping she can help in some way.

I find the initial response is no (from fear trying to keep them all safe) but mild/polite challenge and they tend to realise it's ridiculous. I am an NHS worker I am not anti any rules but we also must not be inhumane. Mine has limited capacity but isn't vunerable in a medical way. I hope you get sorted it's an added layer of worry/stress in this time x
