I probably ABU but I have a very difficult 3 month old baby so I feel justified to resent the world.

But what's WITH grownups wearing huge fluffy fleeces with pawprints, wolf scenes or ickle kittens printed/embroidered all over them? Urgh.

YANBU

My MIL has got a jumper with a big husky on it...she also has got a collection of tee shirt with bikers on it...yuk yuk yuk ...but I must admit, I have a lilac nighty with Winnies the pooh and the donkey (dont remember his name) chasing some multicolored balloons

BroccoliSpears · 23/10/2007 19:35

Can I agree that grown women wearing Winnie The Pooh stuff is just wrong wrong wrongity wrongity wrong.

Wrong.

pointydog · 23/10/2007 19:37

well, I don't take that much notice. But wild horses running in a dizzy ring around the lower half of someone's jacket, I just can't miss.

pointydog · 23/10/2007 19:39

at thought of winnie the poh nightie.

I saw a friend of mine in a whole differnet light when, while shopping together, she went and bought a nightie with a huge kitten on it

minesalargeone · 23/10/2007 19:42

grown women in a piglet/winnie/tigger t-shirt.....NOOOOOOOOOOOO......horrible, horrible, horrible.....and most of the time the tops are too small and poor piglet/winnie/tigger are stretched across the wearers chest....cruelty imo

talulasmum · 23/10/2007 19:49

pointydog;

with a name like that you must be an animal lover.

does your love of animals never spill out on to your clothing ?

HairyIrene · 23/10/2007 19:50

too true pointy
it does change your perspective on people !

i can sort of laugh at this stuff animals and hideous embrodiery..its when they try to give it away...arggghhh...

pointydog · 23/10/2007 19:54

I am not actually a great animal lover, lula. I have never been tempted to mix animal pictures with clothing.

HairyIrene · 23/10/2007 19:54

lol dizzy horses, pointy

last year special round here was reindeer knitted white on black
and i remember brown bears
it was from local market
two or three wondering around

i quite like the kitchness of it though and enjoy others fashin faux pas..it would be boring otherwise..and one man's meat n all that...

mumeeee · 23/10/2007 20:44

Sory I don't agre with other posts. I actually like some clothes with animals on although not wooly jumpers. And Yes I do wear winnie the pooh nighties. What is wromg with them?

tiredemma · 23/10/2007 20:47

whats wrong with them? whats right with them?

MrsMills · 23/10/2007 20:51

I'm sure I read recently that Stella McCartney was doing something similar, large knitted jumpers with large pictures of animals on them. I am being very serious btw.

corblimeycharlie · 23/10/2007 20:51

That $90 coat with the dizzy wild horses is sold out in every size!

corblimeycharlie · 23/10/2007 20:54

So wtf am I going to get DH for xmas now?

catsmother · 23/10/2007 20:54

Okay, I'm prepared to get stoned for expressing my opinion on the matter, but I find Winnie the Pooh et al emblazoned across adult nightwear rather disturbing.

It's difficult to articulate quite why I feel this but I think it's because the Disney versions (which I hate, compared to the original illustrations, but that's another thread ...) are very "baby-esque" and marketed, on the whole, to very young children. You see those images most of all on nursery bedding, on cot mobiles, on cuddly toys for toddlers and so on.

To therefore have it on an adult nightie feels ....... sinister ..... I suppose. These "innocent" images being place into an adult bed. Perhaps I am over-analysing it in an attempt to answer the question ??

Leaving that theory behind, and again, in my experience, I have also found that the women who wear such garb have usually (well, totally, to be truthful) adopted a rather pathetic, babyish persona, as in, "oh poor me, I'm all helpless" whilst fluttering their eyelashes and pretending to be "just" a "silly woman" so that she can be "looked after" by a "big strong man" and that blinking well annoys me.

Guess I should go and hide now ......

I had a WTP nightie, it had Pooh and Piglet on it... in my defence, I bought it for when I was in hospital having dd - it was £2.50 in the Mothercare sale and I wanted something button-fronted that I could chuck away afterwards (the midwife doing our ante-natal classes had given us horror stories about blood everywhere in the days after birth!).

Down our stableyard you often see grown women in applique horse/pony/kitten/doggie sweatshirt/fleece combos. They'd love those dizzy () horse jackets. Can't say it's ever appealed to me, but each to their own...

nappyaddict · 23/10/2007 21:07

you'd hate this then

lovecat · 23/10/2007 21:09

Eww, that's grim!

But I have an illogical hatred of Minnie Mouse. Something about the fact she's always showing her pants... yack!

PeachesMcLean · 23/10/2007 21:15

You've just reminded me of a really awful dream I had last night.

I was going to a very swish club with a whole load of very trendy media type people (clearly not RL then) and I was dressed as Archetypal Mother. Cream trousers, three quarter length, loose cut. Stripey cotton shirt....

with....

A large Scooby Doo motif embroidered onto the cuffs.

Oh it was awful. I may have even been wearing cros.

tiredemma · 23/10/2007 21:15

I once made the mistake of going home with a chap who not only still lived with his parents ( kind of made me not want to lose my inhibitions)
and still slept in a single bed ( not much room for two) but also had a bedspread with a pic of a galloping horse on it.

It was like going home with 'Timothy' from that sitcom 'Sorry'

tiredemma · 23/10/2007 21:16

peaches- PMSL.

pointydog · 23/10/2007 22:22

pointydog · 23/10/2007 22:22

PeachesMcLean · 23/10/2007 22:36

It was soooo awful, you have no idea. I woke up in quite a fluster.
