Exactly. Not to mention how busy those train stations are anyways, especially on what was supposed to be the busiest day of the year.

Precisely. It's the last weekend before Christmas! But "station quite busy on what is usually one of the busiest travelling days of the entire year" doesn't have quite the right hysterical ring to it.

The "Exodus" is nothing compared to rush hour or busy days.Grin

@shatnerswig does that include Hull Grin

DianaT1969 · 20/12/2020 16:41

@5Hcool - these people who aren't Londoners and were heading home for Christmas would have been doing it on socially distanced seats on trains between Saturday and Thursday. Spaced out, a calm migration, wearing masks. Yesterday morning that was legal. Some might be teachers, kept in schools until Friday by Gavin Williamson's threat of legal action. Thanks to the Government, they all had to leave on the same day. Point your blame at them.

I'd like to round up all the goady Daily Fail belivers who post this sh*te on MN and vaccinate them against stupidity. I fear it's too late though...

There seems to be this idea that us London folk are all monies and speeding to Cornwall in our range rovers

I’m here , WFH and NO plans
None
Nothing

Grimbot · 20/12/2020 17:47

I’m in London and I don’t know anyone that has left. I’d have a loved to have gone up North to see my parents who I’ve not seen all year but I don’t want to put them or anyone else at risk so I’ll be staying at home with my husband and children. The vast majority of Londoners will be doing exactly the same. A few hundred people got on trains yesterday. Millions of us will be staying put. It’s not a mass evacuation by any standards.

There are 4 on our road so far and I saw 4 families in our farm shop

probably have London registration plates too. Although as I tried to explain in the summer, the registration plate means nothing and could be from anywhere.

One of our cars was registered in Devon and the other was registered in Sandhurst, which is Berkshire and tier 4. But I don't live in either of those areas. And years ago my dad gave us his old car which was registered in Lancashire.

Is anyone going to the Pearly King and Queen Convention in Cleethorpes tomorrow?

CrotchBurn · 20/12/2020 18:46

All together now kids: NOBODY GIVES A SHIT

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 20/12/2020 18:46

@AlpineSnow

Is anyone going to the Pearly King and Queen Convention in Cleethorpes tomorrow?
Yes - was going to combine it with a trip to see the changing of the guard in Skegness.
SillyOldMummy · 20/12/2020 18:52

Well, the government does like to get worked up over small numbers.

Look at the fuss over fishing in Brexit negative... it is only 0.1% of our GDP.

katy1213 · 20/12/2020 18:56

You know that Londoners have been issued with VIP cards admitting them to secret COVID-free bunkers where we'll be partying - but the rest of you aren't invited?

AlpineSnow · 20/12/2020 19:12

The government and their press have been world class at increasing divisions over the last few years and creating scapegoats. It distracts attention from their failures.

I wish my neighbours had fecked off up North Grin
