"British" government eh? Not "the Government"? Why would anyone on a UK website point out that it's the British government?

Away an get ra fuck back tae russia ya wee fanny. Also, try putting that through google translate and then get it right up ye

AlwaysCheddar · 20/12/2020 13:36

Mass evacuation.... lol.

legallybland · 20/12/2020 13:38

also, scaremongering pish like this MUTANT STRAIN and MASS EVACUATION gets more clicks than

PEOPLE GO HOME TO GET THEIR TEA

although my eyes are trying to evacuate themselves from my head such is the quality of my eyerolling.ffs

SquirmOfEels · 20/12/2020 13:41

@JinglingHellsBells

Mass evacuation? You know there are 12 million in London?
Isn't it about 9 million?

The other 3 million being people who come in daily, and then leave again. Some of them through St Pancras

RelightMyPfizer · 20/12/2020 13:43

@Borka

It's hardly a mass evacuation, a few hundred people out of the London population of 9 million.
There are 4 on our road so far and I saw 4 families in our farm shop

Are we just unlucky to have 20 odd of the few hundred (in tier 2 Yorkshire)

Lostinacloud · 20/12/2020 13:44

Oh well now the government have said it...yes because they are the font of all truth Hmm

Also because of course even though only 290 people per 100,000 of London’s 9.3 million population are thought to have covid at any one time (many of them locked away in hospitals or care homes) they will be rampantly spreading a virus that already exists in one form or another throughout the country. Ridiculous! Stop being led by the government to blame each other and blame those assholes for their failure to invest in a health system that can cope with the winter respiratory illness season each year.

ODFOD

baroqueandblue · 20/12/2020 13:45

@OP ODFOD

(and if you read the Daily Mail you get all the nightmares you deserve)

AlpineSnow · 20/12/2020 13:48

We had Northerners coming down here when they were in a higher tier. We just didn't start threads bitching about it. I'm embarrassed for you that you think the Daily Mail is a good news source.

cyclingmad · 20/12/2020 13:49

What are you on? If the government have said there is a mass evacuation of London happening dont you think all Londondwrs would have been specifically told to evacuate London. Except I don't recall anyone sending me a text or an announcement being made that anyone living in London needs to evacuate.

The PM announcement was London is in tier 4 and the daily mail uses the words mass evacuation and when matt Hancock is asked about it he says the sensible thing that maybe a few people have done that.

We are supposed to be one country, one huge community living on this island and your just perpetuating division instead of unity.

Grin Here are the Fail's latest pictures of London's mass evacuation:

No wonder we ended up with this shit government with people thinking the Daily Mail is a great news source. Thanks for that

Hadjab · 20/12/2020 13:53

I doubt OP will be back to eat humble pie anytime soon

Whattheactual20201 · 20/12/2020 13:55

Everyone issue with London you realise south east east and the outskirts are the issues central London and the boroughs there are doing no worse than north !

StockTakeAndWatermelons · 20/12/2020 13:57

I swear some posters are trying to turn this molehill into a mountain. Every single picture I've seen of this "mass evacuation" has looked like London on a quiet Sunday. Nothing more.

AlpineSnow · 20/12/2020 13:58

There's even posters up around London about it

Go and feed t'whippet Vera Duckworth!

Pipandmum · 20/12/2020 13:59

Seems like many people would normally be leaving London at this time - schools have just broken up etc. Having til midnight has just concentrated peoples schedules.
I live in a holiday destination and there are a lot more people appearing. We are tier one I hope we don't end up higher afterwards.

waterlego · 20/12/2020 14:00

Points and laughs

treening · 20/12/2020 14:00

As a Londoner, I'll be catching a train up north this evening and licking everyone I come into contact with.

user1471565182 · 20/12/2020 14:01

Sick of hearing about every tiny detail about it to be honest. The Daily Mail can fuck off as far as covid.

HamishDent · 20/12/2020 14:01

Whatever people decide to do, they do it knowingly and on their own conscience. Personally, I wouldn’t want to take the risk with my own parents and won’t be seeing them. If people do travel and their relative becomes seriously ill or dies, then they will have to live with the knowledge that they may have been responsible.

Echobelly · 20/12/2020 14:02

NB, surely people rushing away from London to be with their families by definition aren't actually Londoners, so this is not a thing about 'selfish Londoners'

sorry, bit of a smug snark, I know

treening · 20/12/2020 14:02

There are 4 on our road so far and I saw 4 families in our farm shop

How do you know they're from London?

mollscroll · 20/12/2020 14:02

The one thing this virus has revealed to me is people’s need to find someone to blame.

I am being totally responsible and doing all the right things and other sorts of people who are not like me are to blame for this horrible situation. Foreigners were to blame. Northerners were to blame. Then Londoners. Oh but also people who don’t wear masks (even though we don’t know if they are exempt). People who go the beach are to blame. People who sit on benches in the park are to blame. Students. School children. Oh and also the government for not ordering enough ventilators because something something Brexit (gone quiet on that once since we’ve realised ventilators are not the best line of defence).

It’s a mutating virus and a global pandemic. No one in a comparable country is managing to beat this. Almost all of Europe is in lockdown. Including countries that seemed to have this under control earlier in the year. It’s a horrible situation and most people are doing their best to keep their lives on track safely in pretty extraordinary circumstances.

We all need to watch some episodes of Dads’ Army. Armchair experts bitterly denouncing others for their perceived failings are not new.
