Am I BU to be a little pissed off at the timing?

It's a very good point.

Notonthestairs · 19/12/2020 18:24

Well presumably a lot of the London MP's are still there.

And MP's should be spending time in their constituencies- people need their help more than ever (slightly tongue in cheek because our previous MP lived elsewhere and had a deaf ear for many local problems).

LasagneLady · 19/12/2020 18:58

Yes you are being a bit ridiculous to assume that no.MPs live in herts beds and bucks. We are tier 4 as well you know

I'd bet that most of the London MPs have country homes to escape to too. They're probably there already, warming their hands by the arga and figuring out who see next Friday.

Given it makes sense they no longer meet in London, surely it makes sense for them to go home and work from there.

FestertheJester · 19/12/2020 19:06

Our MP (Stella) is still here.

Skysblue · 19/12/2020 23:24

Yanbu. That explains a lot.

TinyTear · 22/12/2020 12:17

Tulip is still here, I think

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 12:18

@TinyTear She is.

notsorighteousthesedays · 22/12/2020 12:21

I agree OP, they even managed to fit their Christmas parties, sorry ‘business lunches’, in and do their shopping before everything had to shut again! ☹️

Palavah · 22/12/2020 12:25

I think it's less about the MPs getting home (after all, those with constituencies outside london would have been allowed to commute home under the rules) and more about Johnson not have the scrutiny of Parliament. They may yet be recalled next week for Brexit legislation.

nosswith · 22/12/2020 12:34

It's not the MPs fleeing but the dodging of scrutiny as @Palavah notes, also the extra number of Covid cases there will be because it did not happen last Wednesday as in several other countries.
