Tuesday - Schools bullied by DFE to stay open: Saturday - Total Lockdown

Is it any wonder why no one trusts this government to manage this situation properly when they are bullying schools to stay open on Tuesday (for two more days), despite advice from PHE and now, only three days later, they "suddenly" realise that things are so bad we have to go back to total lockdown in London and the South-East?

No evidence that things ‘are so bad’
No to lockdowns!
We no longer live in a free country

My thoughts exactly - putting all of that effort into keeping London schools open for a couple more days when they must have know how bad it really was.

More time wasted.

Typical of the incompetence of DfE - schools and education have been shafted the whole way along.

It's utterly ridiculous.

Utterly ridiculous. I fully understand the new changes and do not blame them for that at all. New information comes out and covid doesn't know it's Christmas so I understand the timing is awful but it's not the government s fault. They thought the recent lock down would be enough to suppress it enough for Xmas but simultaneously this new strain has been taking hold and ripping through the south east.

However... It would have been sensible back in October to extend the school Xmas holidays at least for secondary pupils with on line learning.

To waste time and battle like that, again one sort of understands they had to fight back but.... At this time and with knowledge of the new strain??.. Utter Maddness.

The virus was always going to get worse in winter, it loves the cold for it's fatty case and also the increased transmission inside.... Without this new strain they should have declared a week either side of Xmas and 2 weeks at Feb half term.
Blended learning at other times... I'm dreading January.
