In no particular order, mine would be

AIBU to spend Christmas with seventy million people?

AIBU to be pissed off with my present from DH?

What’s yours?

OP posts:
ImPrincessAurora · 19/12/2020 12:28

Christmas is cancelled.

No it’s fucking not. Stop already with all the useless unproductive scaremongering bullshit about cancelling Christmas.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 19/12/2020 12:29

Anyone fussing about the size of their piles should be banned

Yes but I have taken germoloid as suggested and they're still bloody huge!

SuePreem · 19/12/2020 12:31

Any threads asking for suggestions for Picky Bits.

ilovesooty · 19/12/2020 12:31

@SingleWontMingle

Teachers are lazy, inconsiderate wankers.
Or faux naive threads asking what is difficult for teachers. Or threads praising teachers and calling them heroes which are set up to elicit frothing. Threads asking if schools will be shut in January.

PoulePouletteEternellement
“Any topic at all that prompts a slew of responses involving a noun preceded by the word 'nice'. 'Posh' ditto.

Nice cashmere wristwarmers.
Nice jigsaw puzzle.
Posh teabags.
Nice scarf from Etsy.
Posh chocs.
Nice soap.
Nice calendar.
Nice notebook.
Nice fucking biscuits.”

Absolutely! I tend to assume the OP is after a specific suggestion and is now such a dunderhead they can’t come up with ‘anything from M&S food hall’ themselves! Though they tend to say I need to buy for a ‘women aged 40-60’ as if that gives you can clue as to what they like/are interested in!

Tangledtresses · 19/12/2020 12:38

@DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult

I would ban the term "bubbling up" as well 🤣🤣

"We are bubbling up with my mum for christmas" sounds really weird, like they are all spending Christmas in a pan of water sitting on a hob 🤣.

😂😂😂😂😂
Retiremental · 19/12/2020 12:43

‘Picky bits’ is grounds for execution, never mind banning.

OP posts:
Queequeg07 · 19/12/2020 12:45

Snuggly Christmas pyjamas.

MinnieMountain · 19/12/2020 12:52

COVID. Pretty please.

“How much have you spent on your DC?”. It doesn’t fucking matter so long as you can afford what you have spent.

cerealkillah · 19/12/2020 12:53

I have nothing to add except to say that this thread is hilarious. I have found my kindred spirits.

Pollypudding · 19/12/2020 13:01

Brilliant OP
People diagnosing MH issues and my personal favourite “Have you considered Autism?”

Derailing thread by commenting on spelling / typos.

If Santa brings the presents, your kids are materialistic, spoiled, ungrateful brats. Your 5 year ild should be told Santa isn’t real and YOU have paid for everything Xmas Grin

@CatholicKidston

Never mind banning them, where are all the 'my PIL are starving us' threads?? I love them!
Me too! It's not Xmas without them threads
FoxyTheFox · 19/12/2020 13:16

My kids know I buy the presents, I send then to Santa for safekeeping and if they try to be decent kids and not full on radge-packets then he returns them on Christmas Eve. If they are radge-packets then he keeps the gifts and stamps on the elves.

@GlummyMcGlummerson

this one is about responses - Anything that is followed by NOW

A&E. NOW

  1. NOW

Stop. NOW

Or "teacher here" etc Like you're the only one ever to have posted on MN and your word is gospel, even though every single one and of the preceding posts has said "in my school" or "with my year tens" etc.
FoxyTheFox · 19/12/2020 13:21

Have we had any arguments over baby's first Christmas yet and which set of grandparents gets the honour of hosting or anyone complaining that adult DC are taking First Grandchild to the ither set of grandparents for Christmas instead of them? Happened to us with DC1 and we fucked everyone off by announcing no one was "getting" us and we were staying home, visitors welcome either side of dinner.

FoxyTheFox · 19/12/2020 13:22

Any job "here". I always think to myself "are you really?" because I could announce "train driver here" and no one would know that I'm not.

Even more annoying is "as a man" or "from a male perspective". Strap yourself in, ladies, a Man Hath Arrived...

andawaywego · 19/12/2020 13:25

People moaning about specific aspects of Xmas that they hate and pretending not to understand them. Like Christmas Eve boxes, Christmas bedding, outdoor lights... Just don't fucking do it then, Hyacinth.

Mangerfield · 19/12/2020 13:30

A cheeky Baileys
Cheeky mulled wine
Cheeky rhubarb gin
Cheeky prosecco
Cheeky mince pie
Cheeky hot choc
Cheeky hot choc with cheeky Bailey's

Xmas Angry
Retiremental · 19/12/2020 13:32

My DH thinks we should spend babys first Christmas with HIS family. I am apoplectic/devastated/going to LTB....

@TheSilentStars I sometimes say teacher here Blush but ONLY when it's relevant - like when people post saying the school summer term should be extended into August, so I'll say "Teacher here - fuck off". I don't go on random threads about hating your MIL and say "Teacher here - she sounds like a dick"

TheSilentStars · 19/12/2020 13:39

Perhaps we should! Xmas Grin

Wheresmykimchi · 19/12/2020 13:40

Doesn't this random thing show that women have it worse? Hmm

On a serious note though , I love a present thread !!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/12/2020 13:45

What does your DH say ?
Get your DH to deal with it
You have a DH problem not a MIL problem..

When it is something I am perfectly capable of asking my PIL to do/not do , I don't need my DH to go tattling off to ask his parents .
As an adult , I can bloody ask it myself

ilovesooty · 19/12/2020 13:48

Anyone who uses the term "hunker down" is worthy of a ban hammer in my eyes. It's become the new "cosy" and "snuggle".
